The Ullswater Suites at Whitbarrow

We ate here only because we had a voucher this wouldn’t been our choice at all , the menu was quite good but seeing some of the portion sizes (Desperate Dan size) we would have only needed one meal 2 plates . We ordered all 6 nibbles which were good and for dessert we had the crumble which was served with clotted cream but no custard.service was ok but after being presented with the bill the waitress forgot to mention that they could not take payment at the table which cost us at leat 10 minutes it was a very average experience

Having been to Whitbarrow 3 times we were looking forward to our 4th visit. No complaints with room at all however the restaurant did disappoint. We have friends in the area and always have a meal with them there which has been lovely in the past. This time the menu or lack of choice on the menu led us to cancel the booking and eat elsewhere. This could have easily been a £200 - £250 bill for the restaurant. We ate there as a couple the first night and couldn’t believe how ‘streamlined’ the choice was. No seafood, no steak, no risotto, all of which are usually available and as for children - I could only see pizza…. I understand menus get revised but choice should not be too limited.

Just spent 4 nights at Whitbarrow Village in Honeybee Cottage. I have stayed in this cottage a few times now and love it. There is a restaurant on site that previously could only be described as average however there is a new chef now and the food is now excellent!!! Staff lovely, Village amenities lovely, food lovely, I’ll be back in a couple of months 👍👍
