파이크 & 일 호텔 & 마리나(Pike and Eel Hotel and Marina)

We have been going to the Pike and Eel for over 40 years, during which time there have been many changes. Sunday lunch, a choice of roasts, has been one of our favourites. The experience has been generally positive. We each had a different roast - beef, pork, and lamb. The portions were generous, and the food was tasty, although the beef could have been more tender. We did not book in advance and found ourselves sitting in a dark, somewhat dingy area of the restaurant at long tables beside other diners. The décor left something to be desired. Instead of making the room bright and welcoming, the proprietors have opted for dark blue paint on the walls and dim lighting throughout. The dining experience could be made so much more pleasant by careful redecoration and different furniture. At the moment, one has the feeling that the place is going downmarket, but we would still go again.

MOST AMAZING PLACE WITH STUNNING VIEW. Gorgeous food, loved their New menu. The staffs went out of their way to make my stay comfortable . All our expectations were met. Highly recommend. If you are planning a getaway, this is the place to relax and rejuvenate.

We came for Lunch with old friends, first impression when we walked out to the back to eat was, not sure as too many tables, but they sat us near the back which had a nice view of the Marina, and the food was fantastic, really good service and very tasty and nicely presented food. We used to visit here years ago and our friends used to as well so we had some nice memories, we will definitely recommend this venue and hope to go back again soon.

Pictures of the rooms where not like the real thing, stayed in one of the chalets as we had our dog with us which we also had to pay extra for, the chalet was positioned away from the pub itself. Bad sewer smell in the bathroom. No socket for kettle so had to put it on the floor. Location was good for what we wanted but a little over priced.

The bed is to die for ! Love the stay from customer service ( young lad who checked me in) to the owners who were so friendly and kind ! The room was clean and well maintained ! Can’t fault it ! Did I say about the bed lol 😂! The best sleep I ve had for years ! Thankyou

If I could rate this establishment it would be 0. We booked table for 5 and were seated at a small table barely big enough for 4. Waitress did not have a clue what beers were available when asked to check could barely recall what was available. Ordered orange juice and sparkling water received orange juice and still water. We ordered our meals. My husband and I had eaten our starters before my daughter got hers. Jug of water we ordered arrived without glasses had to request 5 glasses. The roast beef dinner was palatable apart from my daughter’s who left most of her beef as it looked like the end piece that had been cooked to death. I spoke to the manager regarding these issues as I wanted to give him the opportunity to put things right rather than giving this establishment a bad review. The manager wasn’t particularly interested as he said they were very busy but he would adjust the bill. We were disappointed as this was a special occasion for 2 mums which had been spoilt by complete lack of customer care and service..so we left without dessert or coffee. When we got our bill there was a ‘gesture of goodwill’ of £18.00. There was no apology or offer to put things right e.g. move us to a more suitable table. When we left the table was still empty. Let this be a review to be considered by potential customers hoping for a pleasant experience especially if it’s for a special occasion.

This is a fabulous place! In a wonderful setting, with great rooms (we stayed in Doctor Hare), great food, and such polite, friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely return there as soon as an opportunity presents itself! We were there with several friends and they all loved it too.

This is a delightful little hotel, in a beautiful setting by the river. The exterior has been kept nice, grass cut, the dinning/breakfast room are comfortable and pleasant with the option to eat outside if you want. Staff are efficient and welcoming. A beautiful place to get away from the stresses of every day life.
