Premier Inn Hereford City Centre (Old Market)

We had an extended stay (9 nights) in the Premier Inn Hereford City Center while visiting family. Positives: All of the staff were outstanding & welcoming. We had breakfast on multiple mornings and dinner one evening. The food was good and we appreciated the convenience the in-hotel restaurant offered. The location offered easy access to the Old Market and City Center, as well as access to the free Zipper bus for access to nearby locations, including the train station. Concerns: The Premier corporate website shows a walk-in shower for the Premier Plus rooms. That was important to us as we both have knee issues and limited range of motion for entering tub-showers. Unfortunately we found that this specific hotel did not offer any walk-in showers, making us feel as if the corporate website significantly misrepresented this feature. Our thought that the walk-in shower would be available was important to us in making a decision on where to stay in Hereford. We had previously stayed in a Premier Inn and found the bed comfortable, however in our room the queen sized bed mattress was worn and sagged to the middle of the bed. We spent our nights either rolling into each other or perched precariously near the edge of the bed. The mattress in Rm 219 needs to be replaced. We also found that the air conditioning would cycle off in the middle of the night, despite our key card being in the "activation" slot near the door. I'd consider Premier Inn's for short term use in the future, but probably look for other options for a longer term stay.

1. Upon arrival at approximately 4pm we were not told that it would not be possible to have an evening meal due to there being no chef on duty. By the time that we did find out it left us very pushed for time to go to one of the nearby restaurants before we were required to be at the theatre. 2. The bar was being staffed by the sole member of staff on duty who was extremely professional, hard working and helpful but was hard-pressed to serve customers whilst also attending to check-ins and enquiries at the front desk. 3. My most serious concern that we have is regarding the fire alarm which went off at 3am. We understand that these things can happen but when guests evacuated the building no roll-call of rooms was taken by the one member of staff (DutyManager?) on duty and no instructions were given to guests. Even after the Fire Brigade arrived we still did not receive any instructions.

Laura in particular was very helpful and attentive. She answered all our questions even when she was really busy. Excellent service. I need to write 200 characters for this to be approved but I don’t have much else to say- it was great and we enjoyed our stay.

Made to feel very welcome from check in to check out. Evening meal was cooked as well as can be expected. If I want oven chips I'll go and see my vegan step Sister oven chips have no place in any restaurant. Chips whether fresh or frozen are by design meant to be deep fried in oil or lard not sit basking on a tray in an oven, big minus for this. If it wasn't for the convenience we would have walked to the Indian restaurant down the road had we known they were oven chips

An excellent location, run by an efficient and seemingly fun team. You get exactly what you pay for. I had a premier room which was lovely. Upgrade wifi was nice. The breakfast speed was great and generally great quality. Watch them scrambled eggs they were a bit odd

Such a warm welcome from Alli, booked a Premier Plus room which was definitely worth the extra couple of pounds. Also booked the meal deal- as a solo traveller this made finding an evening meal and breakfast so much easier. Finding the hotel with the info on the Premier Inn website was a breeze.
