This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I travel frequently. The front desk staff Mr. Lakshman was rude and unhelpful. They seemed irritated that we were even there. After waiting for 3 hours to check in, I was handed a key with no explanation about the amenities or the layout of the property. When I complained about the issues, the staff did nothing. No apologies, no attempt to make things right, just a cold shoulder and a shrug. Upon entering the room, it reeked of mold. The bed was lumpy and felt like it hadn’t been changed. The bathroom had a persistent leak in the sink, and there was black mold growing around the bathroom. The "free Wi-Fi" barely worked and kept disconnecting every few minutes. However, from the moment we arrived, Mr Berny was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure all guests were taken care of. He even took the time to chat with guests he’s a true asset to the hotel. I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. Save your money and stay anywhere but here.

This place is NOT recommended! We ended up cancelling our stay after the first night and left due to the place not being very hygienic. The pillows were covered with mold. The place was all run down and wasn’t kept up to date. The rooms were dirty and the linen in all of our rooms were not changed and had crusty stains from the previous guests. We had booked multiple rooms (about 9) as we had a large group (38), and all the rooms were in the same state. So that was not a one off situation. All the guests in the dining room were complaining about everything and the hotel staff was found bickering in the back at every instance and not fixing any problems (this time spans across 3 meals). One example of bad management and up keep is: There’s a single elevator that doesn’t work properly and kept unclean. Another is: I noticed some rust fallen off of a table on the carpet (a pile bigger than 4 inches in diameter and about 2 inches in height) in the dining hall (very noticeable). The workers kept passing by stepping over it and no one bothered to clean it. One time there were a few workers that was gathered and chatting just by it, but it wasn’t cleaned up. The next few times I went up there (5th floor) I noticed it was trampled and scattered all around. Unfortunately, this is the state of everything there. I am not sure how they even got this many ratings.

The worst hotel experience of my life Also the worst decision I've made in my life so far was deciding to stay here. The 5 rooms our relatives occupied stank because they reuse the linens without washing after the other guests. We wasted the 31st night celebrations here. Nothing was organised. Most of the guests were dirty Russians who too stank. All though this was Sri Lanka , all the new year celebrations were done in russian from the announcing to the songs that were played throughout the night. Food was inedible and unclean. Never again .

Our family made the unfortunate decision to book this hotel for a New Year’s celebration, expecting a memorable experience. Instead, it turned into a nightmare. The rooms were filthy, and the stench from the washrooms was unbearable. It was evident that cleanliness and hygiene were not priorities here. The staff was completely unhelpful and seemed indifferent to our concerns, leaving us feeling abandoned and frustrated. With no other options available on New Year’s Eve, we were trapped in this miserable situation. The so-called "celebration" was a complete disaster—poorly organized, lifeless, and nowhere near the festive experience they advertised. This hotel ruined our New Year, and I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before booking here.

I cannot recommend this hotel due to its poor condition. It requires extensive renovations—ideally, it should be closed for at least six . The buffet offered fewer than ten dishes, and there were numerous crow droppings in the balcony areas. It’s not as shown in the TripAdvisor photos, so please be cautious when considering a visit. The rooms were unclean with full of ants with a bad smell and a lack of hygiene. The bathrooms had no exhaust fans, and the malfunctioning ceiling fan was noisy. Cupboards were so dirty, carpets were worn out, In Room locker was not working, and no bottled water. Additionally, water leaked into the room when it rained, and tea and coffee amenities were poorly set up. Even the pool was filled with sand and stone pieces. The furniture was falling apart, and the toilet didn’t flush properly. It was clear that this hotel hasn’t seen maintenance in years.The bedroom towels provided to me was used. When i went near the pool area , the pool boy gave me a very pale looking used towel.Everything felt very outdated and the furniture looked like it came from a thrift store decades ago. On a positive note, All the ladies at the front office staff, and Mr. Berny and the other employees, did their best to make our stay pleasant. They are truly an asset to the hotel. Overall, I cannot recommend staying here. The hotel is in extreme need of renovations. I will definitely not go again and will not recommend also to anyone. Such a waste of money.The overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming and will definitely not go again

We ordered a pizza. It is very delicious. I mention his name. He is gimhan. He had make it. I thanks for him. And hotel is very good. Staff is very good. And I thank to front office department. Dulshan he gave a very good service to us. All staff is very friendly

we arranged a department trip with their family members as normal annual event and just selected Lavanga Resort & Spa Hotel Hikkaduwa. Mr. Berny (Operation Manager) and his staff treated us very & well always look after us just like their family members. We enjoyed lot like free birds , because They always protected our children from all kind of risks. Mrs. Thushari gave us a good rate during the conversation and she sticked to that rates as agreed. Some times hotel management changes agreed rates after customers arrivals. Mr,Berny , Thushari and team, We were very happy and highly respect and hat off for your hospitality and treatments which were beyond our expectations.Finally I would like to highly recommend this place to visit and enjoy with your family members under this super, friendly, and talented staff. Thank you again Mr,Berny amd Madam Thushari and super staff for super service.we can,t value it or express it from words.Friends visit, feel and enjoy it. Kasun Dikkumbura

The customer service is really perfect. They gave us the best room with a big discount. The food was also very good. All the facilities that a hotel should have and the freedom that we expect as customers were perfect. A highly recommended hotel❤️

A little gem on earth spectacular views with a warm welcome by friendly staff. Hospitality is over and beyond the food was to die for, better than most of the worldwide hotels will definitely go back special thanks to chef Mr Karunarathna & Lucky and not to forget the owner Ms.Anusha who made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay.❤️❤️❤️
