Cocketts Hotel

Two twin rooms were booked last November. On arrival we were given two double rooms. Totally unacceptable for four ladies. No other options available (music festival in Hawes) so we ended up in Askrigg. We then discovered the owners had gone into liquidation. This was not explained on confirming the booking earlier in the week. Getting our deposit back is not looking hopefully. No hot cooked breakfast available.

Booked this hotel in good faith based on what was advertised . However beware as they do not offer what they say they do . On the adverts and in the welcome pack it states hot breakfast however this is not the case. They offer a poor man’s continental which is basic bread, pastry fruit and a couple of boiled eggs ( no meats or cheeses). Very poor indeed. The accommodation Israel is tired and dated and beds upgrades eg torn shower curtain hanging off, holes in wall , mold in shower , dirty light fittings , filthy extractor. Give the place a miss to avoid disappointment.

Stayed in Hawes for a night, walking the Coast to Coast walk. We were looking for a nice place to eat but all the higher ranked places were full. We reserved at Crocketts and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Great ambiance and service. The decor is really welcoming and has a great vibe. We ordered the scallops as a starter which were on special today and they were divine. I had the slow cooked beef and my wife had the risotto. Both were outstanding with generous portions. An after diner drink in the lounge completed our evening. This place really deserve a visit and a higher rank on tripadvisor! Full marks.

This place is worth visiting. The hotel is clean and maintained to a good standard. Our host was welcoming and friendly. The best part is undoubtedly the restaurant, proper food, professionally cooked and presented. Yes, it is a touch more expensive than the pubs next door but it is certainly worth it. Well done Cocketts.

A very warm welcome. Our room was really lovely. We were on day eight of the Pennine Way and after a few campsites Cockett's Hotel was a joy. Breakfast the next morning was excellent - all the things we needed for the 16 miles ahead of us. Hoping to return when we are not on foot. Lee & Wendy July 2023

This is not a hotel , it’s a B&B that has seem better days . The entrance looks modern and is nicely decorated unlike the bedrooms which are well overdue for a refurb . It had a great position in the middle of this charming town . The bedroom was dusty & had difficulty finding a plug to plug in the kettle , in the end we had to use the one and only plug next to the bed .. goodness knows how you would dry your hair . The shower was very poor with a weak trickle and although breakfast was good it wasn’t somewhere I would return to .

Greeted with a warm welcome and shown you our room. The room was dated and in need of more than the cursory clean it had been given. The fan in the bathroom was full of dust. Breakfast was disappointing as everything on the plate was overcooked, even the fried egg was hard. The waitress asked if everything was okay we pointed out that it was overcooked and she apologised but nothing else was offered. Disappointing stay. Wouldn’t stay here again, overprice B and B at best

This is a B&B not a hotel with no reception and no bar It is in a good location in the town centre and we found a parking space outside The quality of service was split into two halves On arrival the greeting was very frosty as in you can’t park there and what time do you want breakfast all in one sentence I had just completed a three hour journey and this was not what I wanted to hear The room was small but aqueduct for our needs The next morning the whole experience was completely different The waitress was very friendly and helpful The breakfast was very good We asked if we could have a later checkout as we were going to a wedding and she arranged for housekeeping to clean our room last to give us more time which was greatly appreciated Overall I thought the room was expensive but given the current climate I suppose they need to charge this
