The Fauconberg

Another return visit to the Fauconberg . Such a beautiful warm pub in such an outstanding area of beauty . The staff are so welcoming and friendly and it was lovely to see them again and some of the locals . We stayed in the Rosedale room again it’s such a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed . We really enjoyed our meals in the bar the Chinon wine off the wine list was delicious , highly recommend that and the prawn cocktail was the best ever . It’s obviously a well loved place in the area as it was always busy especially tea time just a fantastic atmosphere and a very nice clientele .

Stayed in the Garden Room with my wife. Fabulous experience to wake up with the birds singing and the sun shining. Outdoor toilet and shower a real experience too. Excellent food as usual from this fantastic pub. Food adjusted to suit your taste. Pub full of characters later in the day.

We visited The Fauconberg a couple of days ago. We had tried to book a stay but there wasn't availability for the weekend so we stayed nearby. We arrived at 4pm and had a couple of drinks out in the lovely beer garden then ordered food and ate inside. The food was delicious and would highly recommended. We then had another couple of drinks in the beer garden in the early evening and were invited by some locals to join them which made for a great time. We have since booked here for our anniversary in July. What a fabulous place in a stunning location. Looking forward to our stay in July.

Room comfortable. Nice large bathroom. Their restaurant was wonderful. However, if you go on a Sunday you will not be able to order for the specials menu. We stayed in the room nearest the road. When we opened the window smoke from guests below came wafting into the room so we had to shut the window then it became stuffy.

Just been away for a two night break to The Fauconberg and had a really relaxing time. It wasn't the first time as Coxwold is a lovely village. We ate there both nights and had enjoyed it both times - a warm, lively bar. The bedroom we stayed in had a very comfortable four poster. There isn't a right angle in the place (if you want a Holiday Inn try Leeds!) and the building creaks a bit but it oozes history and Annelies and her staff do an excellent job at making you welcome. What an English country pub should be. Looking forward to the next visit.

Lovely stay. Room lovely and warm, comfortable bed, clean bathroom and bedroom. Great English breakfast served in dining room, evening meal served in bar/restaurant with a roaring great fire. Staff very friendly, efficient, welcoming and always ready for a chat. Highly recommend

Well run place. Good food, good staff and manager, good rooms. We statyed there on Fridat evening. Ate an excellent pie with a lovely crusty bottom. Manager was very accommodating and helpful. Very happy to return there. A very good country pub.

Went for a meal here with family, we had always heard good things about the food so thought we would try it and wish we had never bothered. The roast beef was that raw it was practically still moo-ing!! The worst we have ever had. Very small amount of mashed potato on the plate under the beef which was that stringy you could hardly cut through it and all the blood from the raw beef had run into the mashed potato. Also a very small amount of veg for 4 people and at £20 each was an absolute rip off (it said £15 on the website!) I did e mail twice to let them know how bad it was as I didn’t want to cause a scene in the pub when there was other people in there but they didn’t even bother to reply.

Food was good but the service was lacking. No drinks menu until we asked, no second drink offer, low attention and poor eye contact making this difficult. No dessert menu or bill despite asking. Locals received an entirely different level of service and welcome. We are struggling to understand the rave reviews we read before booking. Avoid.
