My partner and I wanted to experience Italy away for the main tourist areas, and just relax within a smaller, local atmosphere. We also prefer to experience culture and daily life, lakes, forests and the rural landscape. This made Soriano nel cimino and staying at Catalani for a week a great option for us. The staff were very friendly and helped us with directions, we shopped for food or ate locally using our limited Italian, making the trip special with fun interactions and exchanges. The beech forest is a must see, we went in sunshine and again in morning mists. The accommodation's location is great 80 mins to Rome central if you wish, or Viterbo for hot springs, and Tuscany for the day. Then back to your Catalani home to relax on the couch and have an expresso, or a spa.
