A converted palace in the middle of a bustling city a haven of tranquility. A delightful but difficult building to negotiate one’s way around. Splendid bedroom beautifully appointed a joy to be in. The staff from the wonderful general manager down were helpful, courteous and extremely patient. To pick out a single member of staff is difficult but my vote goes to Ravi in the dining room. The chef was incredibly helpful when sorting out my dietary problems and produced meals of the highest quality. Recommended you stay I leave you to make your own mind.

Recently renovated heritage hotel. Very clean and full of charm. The staff were attentive and welcoming, but sometimes fell a little short of what you would expect from this 5 star chain of hotels. For example, one day we returned after a full day exploring the city and our room had not been cleaned. One evening we ate in the restaurant and ordered two dishes, but only one arrived. One evening we went to 5 o’clock cocktails but there was no bartender in the bar. And the first morning we had breakfast we were told it was buffet only; I asked if there was any a menu and was told no, only to realize later that there was in fact a menu full of delicious options. This hotel has potential to be amazing but it needs to pay attention to the details.

The palace was absolutely gorgeous. Our welcome was done in a very traditional manner with drums beating and flowers being showered on us. We had arrived earlier than the check in time and the hotel was kind enough to allow us an early check in as soon as a room was available. The room itself was beautiful and comfortable and overlooked an open courtyard. The best part of our stay was the food. The hotel food was absolutely delicious both for the buffet and a-la carte items. The rice kheer, the paneer paranthas, the kadahi panner, all regular Indian items were done with so much perfection that we just could not resist indulging ourselves. The palace lawns are beautiful with rabbits running around and peacocks calling in the distance. There are two swimming pools and both were stunning though the one in the garden area had some dried leaves from the trees floating. But that did not deter my son in enjoying the vast pool. There were two very historic temples in the palace grounds and an evening arti was organized daily where all the hotel staff and guests congregated. It was a good way to increase the interaction between the staff and the guests. The location is convenient with local transport easily available outside the palace gate. The view from the terrace of the palace of the Gwalior fort at night is stunning. Don't miss that. The entire staff at the hotel was very welcoming and happy to assist us whether it was the front office, restaurant or the housekeeping. Will definitely want to visit the place again.

As we bid goodbye to Taj Usha Kiran Palace, we do so with the biggest smiles. We had the most comfortable, rejuvenating and memorable stay at the Taj. The hotel itself is an epitome of beauty and its premises are like a sanctuary tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city. You are engulfed in nature’s abundance-the sounds of birds chirping, squirrels frolicking all around with abandon and the quaint humming of classical music in the background, all feel extremely therapeutic, away from the cacophony of city sounds. The staff’s hospitality and care is unmatched. Special shoutout to Ms Tanika for her attention to detail, positive attitude and genuine dedication to ensuring guests have the best experience. Also deserving a pat on the back are the housekeeping staff, especially Aditya, for bearing us with a never-fading smile. Our five year old (who is besotted by beautiful Tanika didi) had the best time and is already chanting “this is the best hotel ever in the world” :) Safe to say that we are leaving a piece of our hearts behind.

Splendid property steeped in history . Lovely summer palace converted into a hotel . Beautiful rooms . The taj touch special as always . Do take the palace tour everyday led by Mr. Vijay . Very informative about the history of the palace ending with the temple ritual. A very special mention to Ms Soumya at the silver saloon ever smiling and catering to each guest . Another mention to the housekeeping staff Mr Shankar who took very good care of us . It was my parents 50 th anniversary and they made it special by a cake and room decor. Ms Ambika and Mr Pawan at the spa were also very very good . A very special mention to ms Teresa who made sure we entered the premises without any issue since there was a wedding in the property . We were given a nice upgrade to the palace rooms where we were away from the noise . All in all a wonderful taj experience at the palace
