Breakers Boutique Accommodation

We only stayed one night at Breakers and wished we had more time. There is more to do in the area than we realised. You will certainly enjoy a stay there. Our (purpose built) guest room was very comfortable with a wonderful ocean view. The beach below is rugged and beautiful; easily accessed from the property it feels like a private beach. Breakfast was great. The best thing about the property is the host, Jan. She is incredibly friendly and helpful; absolutely determined to have you enjoy your stay. She also is a magnificent and generous source of information to ensure you enjoy your trip to and from the property. We hope to return again to see the northern section of the South Island and if we do, we will definitely book to stay again at Breakers.

We had a wonderful time at Breakers Boutique Accommodation and Punakaiki coast region this March. Our host Jan was really outstanding in regard to hospitality, support and recommendation that made our stay a very special experience. We can only recommend this place.

Breakers is a little piece of heaven and Jan is an angel. I cannot recommend it highly enough: I would give it a 6 if I could. The room was furnished to an exceptional standard, the bed was big and comfortable (I slept through an earthquake!), and the views are spectacular. The manicured garden contained a path leading down to what was effectively a private beach. Jan offered to make us pizza for dinner and served it to us on our verandah - delicious. She constantly went over and above what she needed to, to make us feel welcome and comfortable. When we had confirmed our booking, she gave us loads of tips for our journey from Christchurch - every one a belter. If you are staying near Greymouth don't hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed.

The worst part about staying at Breakers boutique retreat was that we only booked one night! What an absolute haven. We arrived at the perfect time, with most of the afternoon free we fossicked amongst the mussel beds on the rocks, searched the rock pools for star fish and had a lovely walk along the beach. Jan is exceptionally friendly and made us welcome from the get go. Her knowledge of, not only their immediate area but of hotspots to view along the way on our journey , was so helpful to us. The amenities and accomodation was superb. The bed was super comfy, the unit contained everything that was needed. We dined at a nearby hotel on recommendation from Jan, which made us feel that we had experienced real local community culture. Again, we were sad we didn’t book for longer

Accommodation was brilliant 2 minute walk to the beach and you wake up each morning to the fantastic sea view . Breakfast was very very good and healthy in lovely home .Jan was very welcoming and sent us very useful information in advance of our stay on our route which made it very interesting . She also gave us a typed up note on what to see and where to stop on our way to our next accommodation which was great . Jan is a excellent ambassador for the area and full of useful ideas on where to go for the day . Her home made pizzas and pies and lovely and with the amazing view why go out for a meal . If there was 6 stars the accommodation and the friendly welcome we would i have given it . One of the best we have stayed in in along trip to NZ.

The location is a dream with a wonderful view to the beach. Direct access to the Tasman Sea. Jan is the perfect hostess. Thank you very much for the excellent hospitality The breakfast was plentiful and very good. Jan gave us lots of tips for activities and sightseeing

We only had one night at the Breakers Boutique Accommodation, but wish we had more. Little did we know before we arrived, but we found it to be a fantastic place, with a super location right on the waterfront, and with Jan being the perfect host. It is definitely a great place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy nature, but also to explore the city of Greymouth and not least Punakaiki which is only about 30 minutes north of Breakers. We are definitely coming back and next time we shall stay for a few days to thoroughly enjoy the place and its surroundings. Thanks Jan for making our stay memorable.

Like other reviewers of Breakers Boutique Accommodation, we stayed just one night. We're glad we did. We were an extended family of six, and we occupied all of the rooms. Each of us thought we had the best view of the beach! Jan was a gracious host throughout. After check-in, we made our way down to the beach, which was quite a drop. It took a bit of scrambling to get there, but you can't replace the view. The surf was pounding hard and the sun was still a little time away from setting. By the time of the spectacular sunset, we had made it back to lodge level. We had opted in advance for the pizza dinner, with a terrific wine pairing. It was the best Sauvignon Blanc I had tasted so far, although it was edged out later by a couple of vineyards in Marlborough. The room my wife and I were assigned was large and comfortable. Sleep came easily that night. The following morning, we enjoyed terrific breakfast options that Jan prepared. Her omelet was outstanding. Over breakfast, she offered highly detailed ideas for things to see and do as we made our way to the Nelson area that day. She even had the list in writing with time intervals between the stops! Definitely a great place to stay.

We were booked at the Breakers, for one night, by our travel advisor as we were traveling from Kaiteriteri to Greymouth. What an amazing and wonderful surprise! Well before our arrival, Jan, the owner/host, contacted us with travel advice for our route, and suggestions for stops, activities, etc - all very appreciated. The Driftwood Suite has a dramatic view of the Tasman Sea, is beautifully updated and decorated, and the king-bed with crisp cotton sheets was so comfortable! The full morning breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious too. Every suggestion from Jan - from short treks, to dinner at the local pub, to her favorite jade shop in Greymouth (Shades of Jade), were spot on. Stay at the Breakers for a very Kiwi experience.
