Holiday Inn Express Greenock

The approach to the hotel is characterised by litter and over grown shrubs. The room we were in was very dated. The windows offered very little insulation from noise or the weather. The bathroom was very grubby with broken tiles, dirty grout and a dirty shower curtain. However the room did have a bed and curtains so met our needs to sleep. Breakfast is similarly basic but okay if just want a coffee.

The whole hotel is starting to look a bit shabby and threadbare - refurbishment needed. Grubby floors, loose tiles and missing grout in the bathrooms, laminated finish starting to peel off the cheap wooden panels on the walls in the bedrooms, bit of an odd smell in the lift some days. Walls and doors are paper-thin - don't expect an undisturbed night, especially at a weekend if you're in a room by the lift. The rooms with connecting doors have virtually no soundproofing - the conversation the two Irish guys were having in the room next to mine at 1am was clearly audible. Breakfast - seriously bad. Scrambled egg like rubber, greasy undercooked bacon, terrible sausages, dry and stale baked goods, poor-quality coffee, and fruit which has been sitting in the too-warm chiller for so long that the pineapple is fizzy when you put it in your mouth. Vending machines are cash-only, so no chance of a snack if you want to pay by card. Some of the staff were very pleasant and chatty. Others not so much.

Another great wee overnight at Holiday Inn Express Greenock, the staff as always were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are nice and quiet (so a good nights sleep!) but it’s also near to the Town. Totally recommend this hotel. 👍🏻

We stayed here because it was reasonably priced so we were closer to a wedding we were at. Didn’t expect anything amazing given the price but at the very least cleanliness is expected from any hotel. The mattress had no mattress protector and was all stained. The toilet could have also done with a good scrub. Given current stricter regulations due to Covid the was really disappointing and glad the room was only used to put our head down for the night.

Do not go to this hotel.if you are a lone female as they employ night staff with no police check.i stayed for a night in oct 2021 and recognised a male staff member on night shift who has been convicted of domestic violence.!

Staff were friendly, helpful and cheery, room was as expected, very clean, the breakfast options were great as you could have continental and cooked, hotel was located within walking distance to town centre, staff were very knowledgeable about the local area

The room key mechanism failed when we had already unloaded some of our luggage, we were waiting In the hot corridor during attempts to fix it. It was eventually opened with a master key and we were moved to an alternative room. Room 203 has very noisy plumbing. Breakfast was very good and safe and had Gluten Free cooked items available as promised when we checked-in. Staff did well to control a group of workers who didn't seem to be aware of covid rules. It's an easy run to The Erskine bridge for a morning crossing without joining Glasgow traffic.

This Holiday Inn Express hotel is ideally located off the main A78 dual carriageway through Greenock, a few minutes’ drive from the local town centres and waterfront eating places. It adjoins the EE and Royal Bank of Scotland office complexes but is pleasantly set-back in a well-screened and landscaped plot. My room was a good size, nicely decorated and well-equipped including a large sofa, good wifi, hospitality tray, etc. The bathroom was large with a big double-size shower section and plenty of space for toiletries. Evening meals were available in the attractive lounge. Breakfast was good with a full cooked breakfast including toast and orange juice, as well as a continental option. Breakfast could be had in the lounge or in a takeaway bag. In the lounge, it was served with proper crockery, metal cutlery and glass/mug – a welcome step-up from the cheaper plastic/polystyrene containers that seem to be in use in some competing hotel chains at present. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were free newspapers available and I received a free drink and snack as part of their loyalty scheme. My room rate was very good value. Overall, this is an excellent branch of the Holiday Inn Express chain and recommended if you’re visiting the area for leisure or work.
