The 'cool' dark grey external paintwork and the suited and tied greeter indicated that this might not be my sort of "pub" - so take my comments below with a pinch of salt. The dining area was almost empty (except for a largish - and very quiet - family party) but, because every surface was hard, including stone table tops, the acoustics were poor and made conversation difficult. The service was prompt - but leaning across one diner to put a plate in front of another is not as professional as one might hope. The food was variable, several of us ordered with enthusiasm liver and bacon - a dish which has sadly disappeared from most menus. The liver was fine, the bacon minimal and difficult to discern and the bubble and squeak was of a design different to what one might expect. A bit of a disappointment. My wife, who had had a large breakfast elsewhere, wanted only a starter and was disappointed that her request to increase the two tiny fishcakes to three was beyond the capacity the kitchen. Not an "Inn" we will be rushing back to.
