Happy Rock Inn

Thank the search gods for showing me this one. A life (and wit) -affirming alternative to all that's big, standardized and impersonal in travel. Beautiful, spacious, uniquely built and reasonably priced hostel on a huge lot in a convenient-to-everything Portland nabe. Scrupulously clean and COVID-compliant throughout with 3 guestrooms including one with double bunk beds. Well furnished w/comfy beds, ample towels & supplies. Seating/gathering areas everywhere, especially the huge woodsy backyard with garden, smoker, giant rockery and a charming duck who provides breakfast eggs cooked to perfection by Michelle, along with Dutch babies, French toast, pancakes. She'll also make you a sandwich to go for lunch on the road w/amazing dinner often available (porchetta, garden corn and tomatoes...) On display is Jim's vast collection of guitars and decades of r'n'r, movie, sports memorabilia so there's something for everyone. Jim and Michelle are two of the most diversely talented, generous and open-hearted people on earth. They strive to make you feel safe and welcome without being intrusive about it. Could not imagine a better home base for a trip to Oregon
