A classic that you always want to return to. Being a hotel that shows the era in which it was built, which for me has its charm, the facilities are impeccably maintained. The rooms are still comfortable, the view is fabulous as they all face the sea and the cleanliness is immaculate. The all-inclusive is overall good, honest and in line with the rate charged. The Ocean Bay team is truly a plus. It is because of the welcome and friendliness that we leave wanting to return. From the reception to the restaurant, from the employee to the management, the service is warm and impeccable. We felt at home and at family. Madeira has a special way of welcoming that in this hotel is taken very seriously. Thanks.

We spend 8 days at the apartments and loved it. The rooms are a nice size, with most of what you need to self cater. We would often pop down to the mini supermarket/bar/café for a coffee/ pastry/beer/wine/water... The staff were friendly and the rooms made up every day, with towels changed every other day and bedding every 4th day. The aforementioned was very clean. A nice walk into Funchal or along the promonaide in the other direction. Walking to the far end of Funchal was about 25 minutes. Beds were single beds, but easy to push together. You get pots,pan, plates, kettle, cork screw, cutlery, but don't forget washing up liquid and cloth. Small gel and shampoo supplied. Beach towels were extra to hire. Rooms have no air conditioning, not that we needed it. It felt pretty special in Funchal with everything Christmas still on display and all lit up in the evening until Sunday 8th Jan when it was all packed away. Hired a car from Madpoint (Recommend them!!) In the local shopping mall, for a couple of days which allows you to visit most of the island. The apartments were really good value. Overall an excellent experience

Great location and the front desk staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They made good suggestions for dinner and day trips. I observed them being warm and patient with every guest who came to them with a question. They even packed up a breakfast for us because we had to leave so early.

방의 입구는 매우 크고 기분이 훨씬 좋아집니다. 노출된 발코니는 편안하거나 원하지 않습니다. 임시 건조가 매우 편리합니다. 세탁실은 빠르고 저렴합니다. 문에 들어서면 팝콘 레모네이드를 마실 수 있습니다. 이륙하는 것이 행복하고 밤의 바는 매우 분위기 있습니다. 아름다운 노래를 들으며 휴식을 취하고 잠들고 서비스 직원이 두 배를 돌보고 섬에 주차하는 것이 불편하고 걱정할 필요가없는 호텔 주차 서비스가 있지만 요금은 하루에 20 유로입니다.

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable week here. We had, of course, seen several very positive reviews here before booking, which had been encouraging, even although we always treat the most gushing praise with a degree of caution. Very well done Porto Mare Hotel - you more than lived up to the expectations the other reviewers had generated in us! What a marvellous hotel! We were fortunate to have a very pleasant top floor room which gave us excellent views of the delightful and very well-maintained gardens, the main pool and the sea beyond. We found the staff, without exception, to be very friendly, approachable and helpful - and, as many others have done before me, I do have to mention the breakfasts - just wow! The only slight disappointment for us was that the showers (yes, there were two different types - standard and 'rainwater' ) were above the bath, rather than having their own cubicle. However, that really did not detract from the overall experience of a wonderful stay. We will certainly be lookng to return to the Porto Mare on our next visit to Madeira. Thank you all.

Like another reviewer I became jittery the night before we left about the hotel being part of a shopping mall - silly me! We had such a great week staying here that we want to return next year (and we rarely return anywhere because there are so many new places waiting to be visited)! Everything about the hotel suited us perfectly. Lovely hotel, great staff, fantastic choice and quality at breakfast, quiet even though you're in the town and, as for the roof terrace - all whirlpools should be that big and have those wonderful views! Before I sound as though it was perfect I must confess that putting out the lighting on the first night caused a bit of a problem but we eventually worked out what to do, and we did get used to the low levels of lighting in the room and the lifts. Although we enjoyed cocktails by the pool, we didn't eat in the restaurant or drink in the bar but that was only because there are so many bars, restaurants and cafes within easy reach that it would have been a shame to miss out on some fantastic experiences. We were also there during the flower festival, which gave us beautiful sights and became our regular evening walk being so close to the hotel. Oh, and the icing on the cake - one of our favourite shops, Massimo Dutti, is at the entrance to the mall!

Stayed here with my wife from 22nd December until 5th January, it was our first time visiting Madeira and it won't be our last. We were lucky with the weather and with our choice of hotel, the Pestana Promenade was well located and was everything we wanted for our stay, we chose B&B so we could explore the locality which offered lots of choice. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive and provided a wide range of choice to start the day and was open until 11am. The Deck was a relaxing place to hang out for lunch with simple dishes and drinks, ideal if you were still lounging around the hotel. Dinner was a variety of buffet style regional dishes with plenty of choice but special meals were presented for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, a bit formal and pricey for us and the decor was a bit stark. Staff throughout our stay were all superb, friendly and helpful, special mentions for Hender, Anna, Fillipa and Dalila for going the extra mile; our room was cleaned superbly with fresh towels every day. We had a spacious first floor room with a pool & excellent sea view with a large balcony, the a/c was not needed during our stay. Dalila organised some trips for us so that we could see some of Madeira's charms, we enjoyed them all, walking into the town centre was a good walk and about 40 minutes, mainly downhill, we usually grabbed a taxi for the return at 8 euros but buses were available. We would stay again.
