산타 마리아 - 호스텔

I stayed at Santa Maria Hostel from the 7th of November till the 14th . It was amazing as I met incredible people,it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside for me which was my fault I got drunk on poncha one evening and left my bag on the floor and when I wake up my money was gone . Never the less I had a fabulous time and I shall indeed go back ,and not get drunk on poncha as didn’t realise how strong that stuff is .Great location and very convenient access to all places in Funchal .Highly recommended,

Downstairs is restaurant, upstairs is hostel ,on Santa maria road,close distance to cable car as well as various other eateries here .i had good stay here.Staff were friendly and helpful . Good for those on budget.Kitchen facility if you want to cook too

I recently stayed here for a week and it was a pleasant experience. Staff are really friendly and helpful. It’s also a great location, very close to the cable car where a lot of the buses run from too. Can be a bit noisy as it’s right next to a bunch of restaurants but the noise tends to die down by around 11pm. I was in a mixed dorm on the bottom bunk. The bed was comfortable enough but the top bunk was very low so you couldn’t sit on the bottom bunk without banging your head, you had to always be lying down.

A cool spot indoors, lively food and good service.Not a restaurant that needs to pull you in, a reputation that speaks for itself. Fresh tuna, simple vegetables to accompany, with Portugese green wine and desert to follow, nothing to complain about

I stayed at this property solo for 2 nights. I stayed in a private room facing the back of the hostel. The room was spacious and the wifi worked well. The hostel was in a great location and the front desk staff was great & informative. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the mattress had springs that could be felt. It had a fan but I think it got pretty warm in the room. There wasn't much of a social aspect to the hostel but I had prebooked some levada walks so I was pretty busy. Very basic accommodations but it did the job.

Loved my stay in this hostel! I spent most of my time in Madeira hiking around, and this was the perfect place to crash for the night and to plan my next day trip. It's affordable, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location is great. It's right in the middle of the old town and very close to a bus station, which made moving around very easy. If you're a light sleeper and looking for some peace and quiet, this might not be the best choice for you since the noise from the bars and restaurants in the streets below can get quite loud, but I personally didn't mind it at all. Would come here again!
