더 로즈 & 크라운 프리 하우스(The Rose and Crown)

Only went in as we saw a sign saying they served English breakfasts. We were shunted to plain wooden tables (the nicely laid out ones were ''reserved for B & B guests''), and presented with the menu. We asked for a Latte and a pot of tea. The Latte was simply a coffee with milk and the pot of tea just about managed a single cup. The breakfast was awful, overcooked (burnt around the edges) strong smelling smoked bacon, cold beans which were dry on top (looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp), one single mushroom, overcooked, hard eggs, all in all a great disappoin**ent, I ate virtually nothing but the person serving us was totally disinterested. She presented us with a full bill, heading towards £ 30, despite my returning a full, uneaten plate, which I paid. I did explain however, that there would be no tip and that I would make sure she got a full and honest review. Again she seemed totally disinterested. If you like good food and value your digestive system, please avoid this place at all costs. Very expensive overcooked rubbish !!!

Stayed here several times for work and normally really good, but this time i was put in room 1 which is very small. I requested a double bed but all they had done was push 2 singles together but the mattresses didnt even level up plus the sheet didnt fit. Not a nice room altogther. On the plus side staff all really friendly and food and drink very good and reasonably priced. I will stay again but ask not to be in room1

Excellent few days, very friendly staff and ideal location to visit the Naze, Old Harwich and friends in Walton.

Didn’t like walking through the smokers at the entrance to the rooms.

For pub accomodation for one this was faultless. Clean, well decorated and maintained. Friendly. Dinner available even for a late arrival. Good breakfast. Reasonable price. My only comment - the room would have been a bit small for two. I could not have asked for more than was delivered. High quality for its class. Road in front was not a problem.

Lovely welcome very helpful friendly staff, who even went to the trouble of buying gluten free bread for me.

First time at the Rose and Crown for a long time; service was fantastic and the food was excellent. The menu on offer gave us all a good choice of meals and wasn’t full of steaks! I had the Rose and Crown Burger which was exceptionally tasty; and it was so good to be served home made coleslaw. We will be back 😃

So room 6..... beams are low so you bang your head. The floor has a huge slope so the chair falls over when you put your jacket it on it. The desk is ot for working on as it has a microwave on it. The shower is low due to ceiling hight, the WiFi did not work etc etc But omg the noise from the road. This is terrible. Try getting a tent a put it on the m25 to get an idea how bad it is. No normal coffee at breakfast. I did ask but after 3 attempts gave up. I was offered more decaffeinated though!!! This place looks great but omg is not practical at all. The road noise and low beams makes staying here pointless

We were visiting the Westcliff Theatre for an Elton John tribute evening and picked this pub out to stay in. It was really quaint and the staff were amazing. Everything was perfect we will definitely go back.
