샤토 드 퐁스콜롱브(Chateau de Fonscolombe)

Very relaxing stay and close to scenic medieval villages. Food was amazing and service was top quality. Highly recommend staying here overnight or for extended stay. We will return in the summer months.

Despite the beautiful setting, this property was a disappointment. There is essentially no concierge service and no one could or would even provide information about the walking trails on the property. There was no one to provide directions to Aix en Provence or provide information about nearby restaurants. After checking out, we realized the hotel added an additional $800 charge for a fully paid reservation. Our travel agent contacted the hotel and received an apologetic email acknowledging their error and promising to correct it. We disputed the charge with our credit card company and it has now been over a month and this hotel has not rectified their mistake. Our room in the Chateau was comfortable but small. Breakfast buffet was good. The pool and surrounding furniture was dirty. I do not recommend this property.

The chateau is absolutely exquisite, made all the more so by the wonderful and attentive staff. The venue is like something out of a dream, beautiful rooms, fantastic restaurant, grounds to wander on and view the vineyards (and two donkeys). All the staff are friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The divine Coralie Gourjaud (Front Office Manager) made our stay truly perfect. Special mention to Lucas Bourgville (wonderful concierge service) and the charming sprite Hilda in the dining room.

We are traveling around Aix-en- Provence and Luberon area for a week and staying various 5 star hotels mostly members of Relais Cheatau chain. Some of them are beyond our expectaions but Fonscolombe was not in that category although it has a great potential. Chateau Fonscolombe spans a huge area so they may have beautiful well kept gardens which means not trimmed but well kept ( each time we mentioned the hotel staff about our concerns they make explanations based on environmental issues. ) For example the pool area and the pool was not taking good care literally there was nobody to clean the pool and the pool area.. On the other hand the hotel rooms are very clean. The decorations of the room is ok but not impressive. Also the whole Chateau needs a better decoration. There are two or may be three restaurants in the hotel. One is gastronomic which we didn’t prefer to eat but the other one was quiet good. The breakfast they served was good. Overall the hotel has huge potential but need to elevate their operations especially the outdoor facilities.

From the moment we stepped foot on the chateau grounds, we felt welcomed and so lucky to be there. Wish we could have stayed longer... Don't hesitate to book a stay here, it's simply magical and will be a time that you will never forget.

Service in the restaurant and lounge area not as good as it has been. The food is also at its maximum in price but not in quality. Overall a wonderful place. The staff in the reception was always very kind

There were a number of issues with our stay - 1) We were informed before our arrival that we could not have dinner at the hotel due to an event. However, upon arrival, it turned out that this was untrue; 2) The event resulted in not being able to access half of the building (ie all the old rooms of the main house), and as it also involved large motor vehicles, it ruined the serenity of the location and woke us up early each morning; 3) Service was poor and we had to wait a long time for service in areas, eg nobody at pool to order a beverage from until after 2pm (!!); 4) No hot water in our room when trying to get ready for dinner on Friday night, and whilst we understand it is an old building, this is not a five star experience. The elevator was also broken for a time on that day; 5) Food at l’orangerie was poor, including undercooked prawns, and the breakfast was not up to a 5 star standard. The only hot offerings were bacon and scrambled eggs sitting out pre cooked; The fitness centre is incredibly small with only 3 wooden machines and the same goes for the spa area (all we could find was a very small massage room - not sure if we missed something here, but if so, it wasn’t well signposted). Overall this was not a 5 star experience despite paying 5 star+ prices. We relayed the above feedback to a manager upon checkout.
