on the main road in fort Augustus, but very quit. lovely place to rest up after a walk. up canal. comfy bed, in family room. 1x double, 1x single complimentary breakfast was great and filled you up for the day. kitchen area had all you needed . tv was broke in room, but had big screen in lounge

Lovely old building in a beautiful town. This was my second time staying here. Always a comfortable stay. Great location at the south tip of Loch Ness. Walking distance to the Loch and some lovely pubs. Comfortable stay. Easy check in and check out.

Great place, friendly staff and gives you everything you need in accommodation. A good place to base your holiday and plenty of walks (should you so desire) and amazing scenery to boot. You can also take in the splendour and grandeur of Loch Ness which is less than 10 minutes walk away.

Have a look at my photos to get a real idea. I’m the least fussy person ever and as long as I’ve got somewhere to sleep and wash, I’m happy, but this really wasn’t up to scratch at all. Black mold, skimpy old duvet, peeling wallpaper and curtains that wouldn’t shut fully.

Extremely clean and well organized We did not receive an email regarding check in procedures, but the phone number provided at the front door connected us to someone who immediately informed us of all the details we needed. Really liked the self serve continental breakfast but would have appreciated some fresh fruit. Would definitely stay here again

Check in and check out was seamless which was great and communication from the Guest House was good. The room was clean and tidy apart from a dead wasp on the window sill. The shower was strong and hot. The wifi was a bit temperamental and kept dropping out. We both slept well and didn’t hear anyone else outside the room which was good. I think there is about eight rooms in total. Breakfast wasn’t great, it was served from 8.00am however it’s self service and is a continental breakfast, well I think it was. We went to breakfast at 8.30am and everything had been eaten. We both had a cup of tea and a cereal bar which was poor in my opinion, that was because there was no cold meats/ bread/ juice left. That’s down to one of two reasons, either everyone before us had a massive feed or there wasn’t enough to cater for the guests? I suspect the breakfast is included in the price, however I don’t believe we got anywhere near a sufficient product with that. Would I stop here again? Probably not, I would look at different options. Three stars from me.

Room only made up one out of four nights were there. Staff extremely rude when I asked them about it and told they don’t touch the beds’. They also had said they could accommodate a gluten free breakfast but there was nothing available. I also saw a staff member rudely checking her watch and pointing at it when asked for more breakfast food to be brought out. Would not stay again or recommend in any way.

Barring an odd, impersonal check-in experience, this place was perfect for any self-catering traveler that is looking for the bare minimum. Updated, clean rooms with fast wifi directly on the Fort Augustus locks. Recommend!
