If you check Google reviews for this hotel, there are numerous reviews that say the staff is rude. I was hoping to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt, so we booked anyway. Unfortunately, those google reviews about rude staff were very very correct. Everything felt incredibly transactional at this hotel. There was no attempt to get to know the guest or offer any kind of extra care. The “bare minimum” is how I would describe this hotel. Breakfast is depressing. It is the same bare minimum thing every day. A couple slimy cold cuts, pre-made pastries, and hard-boiled eggs. Nothing more, nothing less. I have had better, fresher, and more variety from 2-star hotels. For a 3-star hotel, this was embarrassing. It is also deceptive to use Illy brand cups and serve a much, much cheaper and lesser quality espresso (the breakfast lady said they used Manareso, which tastes nothing like the high quality of Illy). As for the rooms, the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything going on in the room next to you. The hot water in the shower was sporadic. The hair dryer also barely worked. There were even days when we had no soap restocked in the room after cleaning. You also have NO control over the heat and air conditioning. The kicker was that the guy at reception actually had the nerve to ask us to pay our bill THREE days prior to checking out because we stayed multiple days, had a “big bill” (which, believe me, wasn’t worth the price AT ALL), and he “didn’t want any problems with the money”. Verbatim words….Really?! I would have been happy to pay the bill early (I actually normally do this anyway). But the way he confronted me about this made me feel like he was insinuating I was going to skip out on the bill or pay with a faulty credit card. How insulting! The more respectful approach would have been to say: “here is our policy to pay within 72 hours of check-out” NOT: “I don’t want any problems with your money.” When I shared my disappointment with Marco (the ignorant man at reception) about this, he started to give me excuses about how he has had trouble with Americans paying the bill in the past. So…now I am insulted AND stereotyped? What kind of hotel says that to someone who stays there over a week? Well, maybe if your staff actually got to know me and took care and attention to detail, you’d know that I go to Florence often and was searching for my new regular-stay hotel. This hotel, unfortunately, will not be it….Not after this ignorant treatment and lack of amenities/service. But wait, there’s more…the next TWO receptionists (that evening and then the next morning) all made it a point to incessantly **remind** me “I have to pay early”…this hotel does NOT treat their customers like guests. Instead, they treat you like a CRIMINAL. Absolutely ignorant and disrespectful place that definitely should not have a 3-star ranking. Che schifo!!
