I booked due to its location to Rutland Water, and the fact that lots of reviews comment on the quality of the food. I wasn't disappointed, the room was large and well decorated and the food quality was excellent. The owner made us feel very welcome.

We booked for Sunday lunch and were made to feel really welcome. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends in a lovely setting. The Sunday roast and fish and chips were all beautifully cooked and presented. Great choices on the menu, lovely puddings and all very reasonably priced. We’ll be back and thanks for a lovely lunch.

A perfect hotel for our first visit to Rutland Water. Our room for our two four legged companions was just ideal and we and the dogs were made to feel very welcome. We were most impressed with the walks from the door for the dogs and they were definitely an added bonus. Food was delicious.

I had to go back and visit to make sure the first time wasn't a one off, and it wasn't. What a fantastic place to visit, early check in - no problem, room service - no problem, breakfast simply stunning and wow, the open fire, what a "roaring success" provided by probably the best looking farmer I've ever met. Can't wait to go back to the music evenings Simon and Christina are running this summer. Simon obviously has a gift of warmth hospitality. Thanks

Lovely warm welcome from Christina upon arrival. Room was beautiful, food was excellent, I can recommend the steak and home made Shepherds Pie. We had a chat with Simon just as we left and he is a really nice bloke. We wish Christina and Simon all the very best and thank you both for a lovely stay.

Absolutely dreadful. Food was inedible, service without a smile. Expensive for Costco’s frozen line. No fire lit. Full of potential but sadly lacking in every way. Come on Exton, sort it out !🤛🏼

Perfect remote country retreat, the Fox & Hounds is a beautiful old inn with a contemporary twist, owner was welcoming and friendly, room was excellent, boutique luxury, colonial decor, exactly what I hoped for. Breakfast was excellent, there’s nothing to fault it, we’ll be returning soon.

Wow, what a lovely place, from the welcome to the time we left it was brilliant. The room was lovely and the curtains in the room are an absolute delight. Possibly the best bread and butter in the area and the warmth in the pub from the locals was so nice, one chap, I recall even poured me a drink while the hard working landlord was rushed off his feet. I've booked up again. Thanks

We had to wait in the empty bar area at least 5 minutes before the host appeared to check us in . We’d asked for an early check in as we were attending a wedding but I don’t think a £25 early check in charge was justified. The host asked us to pay for our rooms again even though I paid ******* when I booked them. He then suddenly found that we had already paid when I questioned it . When we checked out the following morning we just had to leave our keys on the bar (which was full of dirty glasses) as once again no one was around . Would Not stay again.
