르 상리에 데 아르덴(Hotel Sanglier)

Very nice rooms. Friendly and efficient service. Several restaurants to choose from with impressive wine cave. Spa and fitness center. Parking outside. One drawback : no thub in badroom. For the rest : great place.

Location is excellent for walking around the town. Parking is easy, with immediate access to valet parking. The hotel and the rooms are modern and well equipped with access to three restaurants. The staff are professional but not empathetic. Upon checking in, I was told dinner reservations were not possible and to use room service. When I got to my room, there was no room service menu. An excellent hotel would've found me a reservation when I asked for it, not when I complained. What I DO like is the staff DO follow up on problems like this. A few minutes later, I received a call they had found me a space in one of the restaurants. As far as the room is concerned, we booked a Premium Double Room with shower and, upon checking in were in an attic room that seemed considerably smaller and had no shower, only a bath. When we queried this, we were told the room was "as booked". My mistake, Breakfast is outstanding, with a huge selection, great quality and service, for 30 Euros pp. Check-out was inefficient and slow, resulting in long queues. Overall, less than we expected for 450 Euros, excluding parking and dinner.

We liked almost everything: comfort, service, location. We had the best breakfast in Belgium. Everything was amazing. When the breakfast would be included into hotel price, we would come back next year. But definitely we will come back to Resto Brusserie. That was the top of our this time visit. When there will be an option to come only for the breakfast, we will come!

NICE LOCATION IN THE CENTRE OF DURBUY BUT WE EXPECTED MORE FROM A 5 STAR HOTEL.... THE ROOM WAS SMALL AND THE WINDOW COULD NOT BE OPENED BECAUSE OF THE NOISE OF THE AIRCO BREAKFAST WAS OK BUT ALSO TOO EXPENSIVE

We had not previously heard of Dubuy until suggested to us by our agent. He described it as a must visit and he was correct. Lovely town, was once the smallest in Belgium. He booked us into the Hotel Sanglier. Great sized rooms. Very efficient and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Totally overrated pretentious hotel. If you are in the dark arts it is a must. Our room was at the end of a pitch dark couloir all in black. The room was hardly furnished, in black and grey design and felt like it was the basement although it was on the ground floor. Staff was non-engaging. Sole light was the wagyiu restaurant where tasty Steaks are on offer. We will not come back.

Review as a 5* hotel: + A nice property, with a pleasant room. Public areas are neat, tidy and relatively stylish. A shame that a few of the staff let the hotel down. - The young woman who received us at Bru’sserie on Saturday evening was downright rude (not even a “bonsoir”!) and her whole demeanour suggested we were an unwelcome intrusion. - There was no barman/woman in the bar at 17:00 on Saturday. We waited for about 20’ to be served, but to no avail; we left without having had a drink. + The waiters in Le Grand Verre on Friday evening and Bru’sserie on Saturday evening were superb; professional, friendly and good humoured. - No turndown service (a decision of the management apparently to suspend this service). - We were in a Junior Suite and were awakened at 7:00am on Saturday morning by the sound of furniture being dragged around. + We mentioned this to Quentin at reception, asking that he ensure that this didn’t happen again on Sunday morning!! When we checked out, Quentin was there and asked whether we had had no further disturbances, explaining that he had enquired and found out what had caused the disturbance on Saturday (a member of staff cleaning a terrace above our room @ 07:00); i.e. he had taken action, not just heard our complaint and left it at that. Don’t want to be picky, but if one charges 5* prices, then … - I have nothing against a buffet breakfast, but it doesn’t reflect a 5* service. - 5* suggests there should not be artificial flowers in the public areas, but real, fresh flowers.

Perfectly located in the heart of Durbuy. Breaths a luxurious and warm atmosphere. Valet parking and porter service readily available. Hotel includes vast wine cellar, gentlemen smoking lounge, wellness, shop and multiple bars & restaurants. (For the one we tried see separate review.) Our room had a very comfortable bed albeit we found the room a bit cramped. We noticed that for new bookings, an upgrade was included on ***********. All in all when in Durbuy again we would consider this hotel again.

Main plus is absolutely the staff. they are all extremely nice and helpful. Location is perfect and the view from our room very nice. But downside: there seems not to be enough staff, based on which there are long waits everywhere at dinner (we and many others around us waited 45 minutes for a piece of bread and even longer for the first course) and breakfast (not worth its price). Other things to improve: Temperature in the room is very difficult to regulate (too hot, AC very noisy) so we slept very badly as a result thereof. Hotel needs refurbishing: drilled holes in the wall where before there used to be things like soap dispensers. Paint urgently needed at many places. Just not what you would see in other hotels of its category and price. Also in our case, the sliding door open arrival was open (and very hard to close) and there was an uncleaned ash-tray on the balcony outside. Final verdict: there are way better hotels in this category and price point.
