Not an inexperienced traveller, and know what im getting myself into when booking places blind from a list from a search engine. This one snuck by me though - the web page is very convincing of it's hotel-ly goodness and creature comforts. Even the Ammenities list on booking*com is quite extensive. the give away should have been the exterior photos - its quite big isn't it?! hotel rooms are on the concave side of the hotel building, and look into scrub. on the context side of the shared middle hallway are medical practice rooms, waiting rooms, examination, diagnostics, conference/meeting rooms etc. even furniture in the hall has signs stating "hotel guest please put furniture back as you found it for the patients". naturally the good views across the valley of the wine vineyards is only visible from these medical facilities. median age of patronage id guess at 65-70. pleasant folk, but not very demanding from a hotel services aspect. food is served till 20:00. that's kindve half ok i guess, but... no drinks after 20:00? sorry the bar closes at 8! what?! ok, i guess i'll just. go. back. to. my. room. then and watch... er no, no TV in our room. whatever. bored by now anyway. ill get up and use the pool for a swim tomorrow - oh wait! the pool is used during the day for some aqua aerobics or other courses for the medical clientele. great. maybe do some washing? no? no sir, we don't offer a laundry service (but it says so on your website)... ahhh well, then i"t'll need to go offsite and will take over a week to come back". sure , ok. im done. don't be fooled by the spin and images in the presentation. its a plain jane normal middle of the road 2 maybe 3star hotel with zero frills, dragged out of the 80s with a thin lick of paint. beds are simple and clean (i think someone else referred to them as hospital beds - there a shade better than that) room size ok. on the upside if your hip arthritis is playing up its probably a good place to have it looked at simultaneously.
