Woodland House Hotel

Awesome entrance as we drove up. It’s a fabulous run family run hotel. Very friendly on arrival and our room was huge as well as the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable and very quiet. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel and it did not disappoint. We had a simple roast and it was lovely and well priced. However the best part was the dessert, chocolate fudge pudding, outstanding. Service was impeccable and the breakfast the next morning as part of the room cost was also fantastic. Highly recommend if in Dumfries.

Five glorious nights in this wonderful hotel. The McCall family and all the staff are really helpful and friendly. The meals are fantastic and very reasonably priced and the Banoffee Pie was exquisite 👌 The room was great and spacious. 👍👍👍

A one night stay in a very large, clean and comfortable king sized bedroom. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was comprehensive but with little cooked choice . The quality of bacon and sausage was poor. The evening meal choices were varied . The beef stroganoff was good and freshly made whereas my husband’s roast dinner was mostly reheated. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent, the woodland cheese board was basic. Prices reflected the quality of the food.

Spotlessly clean, with superb hospitality, quality, and character throughout. thoroughly enjoyed my three-day stay. great menu and service.relaxing and comfortable. Fresh clean linen, excellent mattresses.slept soundly. looking forward to returning.

Booking online was easy. We chose this hotel because we wanted to visit Lincluden and Carnsalloch Chapel. The prices were reasonable. We got in a little later in the day — around 6:30pm I believe. A younger man was working the reception desk and taking care of diners in the dining room. He got us checked in and showed us to our room. It was spacious and traditionally decorated. Everything seemed clean. The bathroom was huge. There were two sinks which is always nice when traveling as a couple. The towel rack made our towels toasty for showers. I wasn’t a huge fan of the shampoo and soap they provided — very spicy masculine scent — but I had some of my own so no big deal. The towels were huge, and they have a mat to put in the tub to keep you from slipping. I missed having a shower wand, but the water pressure was great. We decided against dinner at the hotel because we had heard of an interesting restaurant in town, but we were able to grab a drink at their full bar when we arrived back later that evening. They let us take the drinks back to the room to relax. The bed was one of softest I’ve experienced in Scotland, but it was still on the firm side. The next morning, we went to the dining room for breakfast which is included in the cost of the hotel room. An older gentleman was manning the dining room, and he was delightful. We went with lighter fare, and everything was fantastic. The tea was especially nice. Great experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was lovely and clean. View was awful as blocked out by curtains due to unfinished new build extension which we were not made aware of prior to booking. The food was awful, mainly frozen produce, not the standard we expected for the hotel status and cost to stay. Vegetarians not catered for and minimal toast in toast rack. We asked for more toast as only 1 slice per person delivered initially. We were then given 1 slice between both of us with no additional butter. Would expected locally sourced produce in relation to the meat breakfast, however it was clearly cheap frozen bacon and sausage which was tasteless. We will not be returning to this hotel again.

My family and I went to the woodlands for New Year’s Day dinner the food was great at reasonable price and the lady that served us was great would definitely go back again there not many places I give reviews but this was first class thanks so much

Fabulous family run hotel, wonderful room, grounds, meals and a very personal feel. We stayed for 3 nights to explore Dumfries and Galloway with a view to retiring in the area. The staff are truly lovely and we felt part of the family from the start, absolutely loved it.

What an entrance - all looked very grand. Large car park. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere all round. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Good food - dinner and breakfast. It was a bit expensive compared with other places we had stayed.
