Cairndale Hotel & Spa

The Hotel was disappointing. Room very dated and bed was so uncomfortable. Curtains were 2 inches too short for the window and let in too much light. Price for a glass of Rose wine was £13.50. The staff were all lovely, which was the best thing about the Hotel, especially Joshua in the bar. Breakfast wasn't great, very dried up and not much choice. The spa was the only saving grace as it was amazing although you still had to pay £45 each for 2 hour access even if you stay in the Hotel. We asked about the Domes outside and were told you have to contact another company and pay a charge, but as they closed at 5pm on a Saturday, it wasn't possible. I had a lovely Aroma flex treatment from Pauline in the spa.

Me and my mum stayed for the Sunday slumber deal. You can see a lot of effort is being put into the hotel to improve it and the areas they have worked on are incredible! The spa was possibly one of the best spa days I’ve ever done. The staff were so friendly and down to earth, the facilities were spotless and the treatment was a solid 10/10. Thank you Anita for your lovely massage and really working those knots!! The rooms are currently under renovation and I’m sure they will look amazing once they are done. We had a delicious dinner as part of the deal and the staff at dinner were so attentive. We also enjoyed breakfast with the staff being so fun and friendly! I can’t wait to see what the hotel will look like once the renovations are completed. for the parts they have refurbished, it has the ability to be 5*s!! Thank you for a wonderful overnight and we cannot wait to go back!

The spa was wonderful- the treatment we had (mud rasul) was great. The other treatment rooms were excellent. The pool was exceptional- being able to swim through the bubbles and fountains without leaving the pool was great. Beautifully decorated too. The attendant in the spa was very helpful and knowledgeable. Loved the spa bathrobe, slippers and bag - great not having to go back to the room with a wet robe.

Visited recently for the Twilight Spa experience, which was wonderful. The new facilities and the whole pool area are absolutely beautiful and really well laid out. The spa and whole hotel were spotlessly clean and all the staff we spoke with were lovely-particularly the girl downstairs in the spa itself (unfortunately I can't remember her name). Food was tasty and high quality and the drink prices were very reasonable! The only thing I felt was lacking was the availability of water in the spa area-although I know we could have got some from the staff, a water machine would be far handier.

My daughter and I recently had a day in the spa. What an amazing place! The facilities are excellent and the staff were so professional and helpful. We were welcomed by Eileen who was just lovely and instantly made us feel relaxed, ready for our day. Our treatments were the best we've ever experienced.....Pauline and Eve, our therapists were outstanding. We are now planning our next visit. What a tremendous asset to Dumfries!

I was gifted a spa restore and retreat package which included full use of the spa facilities and 2 course lunch. The spa reception, cafe, changing area were beautifully decorated and attention to detail was noticeable. The changing area was on the small side and was glad we managed to only have another couple of people in at the same time otherwise it would be uncomfortable. The added touch of being given a hessian branded bag with your robe, towel and slippers was appreciated. All of high quality cotton. Heading down to the actual relax and spa area the spiral staircase may not be for everyone but what’s at the bottom is worth the trip. Again attention to detail of how the area is decorated, layout and facilities is amazing. There were plenty of options for heat facilities, ice bath which was a great touch and the pool with various jets. Unfortunately the hot tub was off due to maintenance issue. All staff were happy to help and very pleasant to deal with. Lunch options was great and the quality of food was high and so tasty. Highly recommend your second course being on the exceptional desserts! A downside for us was no drinking water facilities, you had to keep getting a staff member to provide you with a small glass of water each time. When you are in hot facilities where you should keep hydrated this was a bit of an inconvenience. We also felt the prices for any add on treatments was pricey. In saying all of that if you are looking for a spa day during the week is a reasonable price when including a lunch and would definitely recommend a visit.
