Visiting Cusco from Los Angeles and honestly, we were both really impressed with the hotel and the staff. I only stay at five star hotels and travel often so I am a frequent flyer. I have stayed at many places all over the world and have been disappointed in the past, but Monasterio exceeded all expectations and it was truly a magnificent stay. It was founded in 1632 and is still inuse today, but now as a luxury hotel. It has 121 rooms and is located in the perfect location in the historic center of Cusco. It’s two blocks from Plaza de Armas, and pretty much everything else you will want to do while in Cusco. Next door is the Palacio hotel, which is the second best in town, but if you are traveling with someone special, it’s your birthday, as it is for mine this trip, an anniversary, or any special occasion you will want to stay at Monasterio. As soon as we checked in they upgraded our room to a large suite and the room was extremely nice, very large, modern and recently updated. It pretty much had all the amenities that we were looking for, and the breakfast included buffet is truly delicious. It is filled with all sorts of local Peruvian food as well as some international options as well. We also ate at OQRE and had a wonderful dinner. It’s a very elegant restaurant and in the same location where the breakfast buffet is. I want to shout out Leonardo who works in the front and was extremely helpful and polite to us during our entire stay. He arranged the car to pick us up after our stay and was someone we looked forward to seeing and talking to each time we entered and exited the hotel. Honestly, the best hotel in Cusco and even though it is expensive, it is worth it. I definitely would stay here and only here next time I visit Cusco.
