A birthday treat for my wife. The hell it was! Telephoned direct and enquired about a Saturday night stay, explaining as a well needed break and birthday surprise for my wife. Paid by card there and then asking price £126.00 for the one night in a larger double room. Given room 14. Lady at reception explained there was a noisy dehumidier in the room next door to us as it was damp and she would come up and switch it off. Still going... The room was very cold, radiater was off, we sat on the bed for a bit and looked at one another thinking the same thing. It was really poor and for the amount of money, it was called "taking the piss". Several screws and nails sticking out the wall. Carpet not fitting, thread sticking up all round the edges. Dirt smears on the walls. I paced the actual room size (excl the hall to the entrance door) and roughly 8ft by 12ft. LOL as they say The ensuite was another disappointment, public hair on the mirror, dirt round the shower knob, sink tap not cleaned 100 percent, door with bleach splashed all over it, filth round edges and skirting... £126.00 a night remember! At no stage did anyone say "oh by the way, happy birthday". Nice food and service in dining room. After food I ordered two coffees and two brandies. Coffee arrived but no brandy - "sorry i forgot about it and I'm not sure if was added to the hill or not" she said?! After this was told can't add the dinner bill to hotel bill to pay all extras in one go, had to pay straight away as it was explained a separate business. We left at checkout time in the morning and no one in reception area, left the key on the counter, no one spoke. I drove home thinking of all the places we could have stayed for that money. Wow!

A great find. Great welcome from Frank on reception. Lovely room, comfortable beds. Dinner was a delight. Game terrine x 2, Mushroom tortellini x 1 and sea bream x 1, creme caramel x 1 and bread/butter pudding x 1. All beautifully cooked and thoroughly enjoyable.

We had a lovely long weekend stay at Pettifers. The family room we were given had a double bed and two singles. There was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space for the four of us for a weekend and a separate table had a kettle on it with tea and coffee provided. The bathroom was nice and large with a good over-bath shower. Everything worked well and the room was cleaned to a good standard and well presented. We had two breakfasts and one evening meal at Pettifers. The quality of the food was excellent. Lots of choice at breakfast (it is served to order rather than a buffet). The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our various food requests in the restaurant and also everyone on reception was welcoming and helpful. There is lots of parking space provided at the back of the hotel. This is a very good place to stay and we would recommend it.

We had a wonderful warm welcome on arrival at Pettifer’s The room was lovely, comfortable and spacious with large wet room. Food served in the restaurant was delicious, breakfast was generous and kept us going all day. We will definitely returning to the heart of the Cotswolds and staying again at Pettifer’s. A beautiful part of the country well worth a visit.

Took up the Rugby weekend deal Beautiful, friendly hotel. Very comfortable place to spend time relaxing and getting away from it all. Good food and drink available all day, excellent breakfast too. The room was clean and the bed was huge. The owner and staff were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough. Will definitely be back

We have just returned from a week’s holiday with our dogs. We have had a wonderful time staying at Pettifers hotel. Frank and Lynn and the rest of the staff made our week the most enjoyable experience. Cannot do enough for you, made dogs very welcome. Breakfast was first class excellent local produce and cook to perfection. Set in a great location where everything is not to far away, Oxford, Bath and all lovely little villages around the area. If you are thinking of going to Cotswolds this is a perfect place to stay. Highly recommend Thanks Andy , Lucy Molly Maggie and Peggy 🐶

Outstanding. We were stuck in traffic and arriving a lot later than planned. The owner put us at ease told us not to worry and would all be sorted (even though we were now arriving after kitchen closed). Also came to check we were ok and sorted on arrival. Lovely man. All staff were outstanding and friendly and a lovely Chef. Hotel was beautiful, set in stunning surrounding and beautiful, relaxed garden. Would definitely recommend this hotel….outstanding service …..amazing breakfast 👍

This charming hotel has a wonderful bar and restaurant open everyone. It’s so comfortable and the service is excellent. The Sunday roasts (fish and vegetarian choices also) is simply the best. Thick carved meat, crisp roast potatoes and the cheesiest homemade cauliflower cheese included not charged as extra like many places do. Beautiful homemade soups served with homemade specialty bread are a particular favourite starter but there’s a really varied choice. Same goes for the puddings. Very reasonably priced, it’s head and shoulders above other local offerings. Oh and it’s super dog friendly, they even have dog ice cream served to your table or outside in the large outdoor area which has a mixture of comfy sofas and eating tables. Lots of room for kids to run around. Pretty much perfect for everyone!
