I didn't even get the chance to stay at the Supertel Inn in Creston, IA, because the customer service experience I had while checking on an upcoming reservation (made through *******) was THE WORST I've ever had! The issue occurred when I called to inquire as to why my credit card was being charged one week prior to my scheduled check-in. The owner refused to listen to my question, became combative, cut me off, and kept referring me to "******* policies" and shouting at me to "call *******". All while I was calling simply to find out why I had already been charged, BY THE PROPERTY, for a stay beginning on March 9, 2022. As I continued to probe, the owner resulted to calling me "missy" and "stupid", telling me I didn't know how travel worked and that I was acting like his wife. It was seriously shocking! I ultimately hung up on him and called *******. I explained everything to the ******* representative, he called the property on my behalf, and came back to me only to defend and excuse the behavior calling it a "misunderstanding". It absolutely was not! I told the ******* representative I did not feel safe and comfortable staying at this property next week with my elderly mother in tow. He cancelled the reservation BUT upheld the one night ($111.45) cancellation fee assessed by the property owner. This is the all-around most ridiculous customer service experience I have dealt with in my entire life. Not only was I treated like garbage, but I was forced to pay the man responsible. And...believe it or not...I DO know how travel works and do it quite a bit!
