플라야카넬라(Playacanela)

We stayed for 7 nights half board, the hotel was very good. The rooms were cleaned every day, there was a good choice for breakfast and the evening meal. A tourist train stops outside the hotel, we went on it as soon as we could to see the local area and become familiar with it There is a bus stop 50 yards from the front of the hotel, its a circular route going to Ayamonte and back via the marina etc. The bus fare was 1.45 euro very cheap, and the ferry to Portugal was 2.30 euro each way, which takes about 15 minutes was also a bargin. The marina is an easy 10 minute stroll, from here we had a boat trip up and down the river to various place of interest it costs 12 euro for adults, and is supposed to last for an hour. our trip lasted for quite a bit longer and we were suprised to be given a complimentry glass of wine and fresh shrimps halfway through. We went to Porugal twice via the ferry from Ayamonte, buying presents for family. We had 2 boat trips from the marina, a small boat called the Pelon ferry cost 6 euro return going to Isla Christina and the cruise mentioned previously. The rest of our time was spent mainly on the beach, its about 200 metres wide and over 7 kilometres long, it was never crowded! The sand was soft, the water was warm and the air temperature ranged from 26 to 31 degrees C. During our stay we walked the entire length of the beach, you exit the hotel grounds swiping your room card to open the rear gate, go over the wooden bridge crossing the nature reserve, its about 100 metres and there you are at an almost empty beach. The only negatives we had about the hotel was 4 euros daily for the room safe, we thought 2 euros a fairer price, so didn't use it and had no problems. The evening meal started at 7.30 to 10.00, 6.30 would have been better allowing the evening entertainment to start at 9.15 instead of 10.15 which we thought was a bit late. All in all, very happy with hotel, beach and surroundings, we have recommended it to Daughter and son in law for family holiday with 10 year old twins. Don't expect to meet many english people unless you visit the marina or take the ferry to Portugal.

Lovely hotel, with helpful and hard working staff. Spoiled for me by the excessive number of flies in the pool area. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. Cleaning is done daily, and done early. The restaurant provides good value meals with a large variety of dishes. You sometimes have to wait for crockery, as there never seems to be enough. Ana, who looked after our area was always smiling and very pleasant to talk to, despite being very busy. Very few, if any British guests. That made it more interesting for me, but if you are looking for a British dedicated hotel, try elsewhere. The pool is large, with no shortage of sun beds. It is beautifully landscaped. I spent a lot of time sun bathing, and my enjoyment was spoiled by flies crawling over me. Regrettably, I wouldn't go back for that reason. Superior rooms have stunning views, and it lifts your spirits to wake up to a view of a sunny beach. Entertainment was in Spanish, which I loved, but might be a problem for some. I enjoyed my time at this hotel, value for money wise, it came up to the mark. That's why I'm sorry to only give three stars, based entirely on those pesky insects. If you are not spending all day at the pool, it is an excellent base for exploring the area.

Beautiful hotel! Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times even when we arrived at 2am from our flight. Cocktails are cheap and cheerful. One of the bar staff was amazing and very generous with the alcohol :) The drive from the airport was quite long but that was our choice as we wanted to see Isla Canela. Gorgeous beach directly outside the hotel back door. Pool is clean and great for kids too with slides. Hot tub was a nice extra. Food was gorgeous and so much choice! Great kids entertainment in evening and fun for adults too with music quizzes etc. I would definitely recommend for anyone to visit this hotel as it’s such a good price for what you get :)

Very good experience with the family, aldo the pool and the tobogans were only for childrens from 5 years . All the staff is wonderfull and very helpfull. For small childrens they have the delfi club with plenty of activities during all Day and at night they aliás have a show. The buffet is great, salad, fish, meat and deserts, for lovers of the 5 continents

Loved the swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Good food and services. Amazing location, friendly staff and animation team. Nice hotel. Would recommend the destination and hotel and hopefully will visit Isla Canela soon again and will stay at the very same hotel.

I have recently returned from my family holiday to playacanela and mostly we enjoyed our stay. Positives; The hotel was spotless could not fault it, clean room every day, spotless eating areas, pool and pool area very clean. The breakfast was the best meal fresh pastry, bread, cereal anything you can think of that you could possibly eat for breakfast, some items quite cold but understandable for a buffet. Evening entertainment was really enjoyable although very little English was spoken so my children found it difficult to engage. Negatives; A lot of hidden charges for example safe in the room you had to hire to name one. Ridiculous prices for snacks, Ice creams, slush was just ridiculous, plus evening meal which was 80 euro per night so we decided to eat out which was a lot cheaper but was a problem due to the area and the lack of restaurants in the area and even more so that cater for children, personally I think that is why the hotel restaurant charges so much because they know there are very little alternatives to eat. The Communication barrier was a real issue I understand it is Spain but I think there were 2 maybe 3 members of staff in the whole hotel who spoke and understood basic English, this was an issue in even ordering snacks staff would laugh and be quite rude because you couldn’t understand them, and would make it obvious they were laughing at you, it was quite intimidating so never mind if something serious was to occur. The children were quite bored by the end of the 7 days, the pool entertainment was good my kids enjoyed this but this was only 10 minutes at a time twice a day maybe, they could not attend the kids club as they would have felt left out and quite isolated being there so that was not an option for them as everyone was Spanish and spoke Spanish so they refused to attend that. Pool loungers was also a big concern the staff were more concerned with putting tickets down on beds which had been left unattended for 10 minutes , if you’ve got little children running around after them taking them to the room to get them changed and when you’d come down there would be paper left on your sun lounger with time slots on, instead of actually doing Their job and supervising children in the pool, they were more concerned about sun lounges with towels on which were left unattended for 10/15 minutes. I witnessed several pool accidents and no life guard was present this was worrying to be honest. The hotel would have been lovely if you had older children who were either Spanish or fluent at speaking Spanish (doesn’t really cater for younger children) but for me and my family we felt out of place and this is rare as we have attended multiple foreign hotels and have never felt like outsiders but unfortunately here we did, nevertheless we had an enjoyable time for the most of our holiday.

I stayed here for 8 days with my 5 and 7 year old and husband. Our plane was delayed and we didn't arrive at the hotel until 1am Spanish time. We were welcomed and informed that a meal had been put by for us in the restaurant if we would like it. This consisted of some prawns cheese, cured meat and some water. Pro's: The hotel was clean and tidy and generally appeared looked after. The pool was clean, but very cold, although the kids didn't mind and they loved the 2 slides. There is a good selection of food - cons to follow though. Con's: The staff, especially bar staff and restaurant workers didn't speak good English. We paid all inclusive for our holiday which you would think would include everything but it didn't- we had to pay supplements for some food and drinks such as crisps, sandwiches, pizza, chips and cocktails etc from the snack bar and bar. Every time you wanted a drink or snack or eat in the food hall you had to show your room card, which they took and scanned each time which was annoying. It would have made more sense that you wear wrist bands like other hotels we have stayed in. The food was probably the worst part of our stay breakfast was from 8-10.30am, lunch was 1.30-3.30pm and dinner was 8-10.30pm. If you have children, all of these times are quite late, especially dinner time for them. There was usually a que, especially at lunch and dinner time and the sections where the meat and fish were being cooked were only just starting to be cooked - they hadn't cooked a load off and kept it hot, it was being cooked as requested by each individual. I can understand this for food wastage, but when there are hundreds of people, it is likely that a lot will want fish and meat. Because you had to wait for this, it usually meant the rest of your dinner went cold and the chefs looked young and inexperienced, like they didn't know what was going on or what they had to do. We didn't eat chicken or pork as they were usually big lumps and cutting into each piece you could see it was raw or very pink/bloody inside. There was a lack of fish to choose from and most dishes were warm rather than hot hot, which is what I would have expected. Some mornings there would be one guy who would man the poached eggs, pancakes and omelette, which would also result in food getting burnt and wasted and a big que for omelette, which weren't even cooked properly. If you wanted fresh orange or pineapple juice, this was also a supplement to be paid, despite being all inclusive. Overall I didn't rate the hotel food and breakfasts would be the most appealing. The jacuzzi had a sign saying not for under 15 year old, but it was swamped with kids under this age and without their parents, and the lifeguard lady didn't have a problem with this or some Spanish dads encouraging their kids to cling onto the bridge, that went across the pool. Holidays recomended for all family. A hotel for all. Animation for all ages. The food is good. Installations very big. The sea is very near and the ocean is beautiful. The atention is very good. It is a site to recomend.
