메종 드 치앙라이(Maison de Chiang Rai)

There is so much that could be good about Maison de Chiang Rai with its quirky decor and generous bird-filled gardens but the staff seem determined to make the experience miserable. It’s one of those places where it feels like you have caused offence simply by booking and paying to stay. Smiles are at a premium and woe betide anyone who asks for a coffee or help with a car to the airport. The rooms are a bit soulless and lacking in windows but it is still a nice respite from the bustle of the city. Close to the airport but a cab ride from the city centre and not much in the way of local eateries nearby.

My wife and I felt really lucky to have found this recently opened hotel during our rainy season tour of northern Thailand. It is a small hotel with friendly and well-informed staff who gave us many useful tips about places to visit. The ground floor reception is very light with glass on three sides and overlooks the pool. Art works abound on every wall with quirky sculptures and ornaments. Upstairs is a wonderfully designed covered terrace with book shelves full of interesting books about art and artists. There is very comfortable seating, and the eaves project well away from the house making it feel like a tent, airy but completely protected from the dramatic rainstorms that came and went. A great space in which to read or meditate or hang out with friends. The bedrooms have everything you need except no windows looking out towards the front of the house. There is a tall window overlooking a (currently) vacant plot at the back, but you wouldn't want to spend much of the day in the bedroom. Which suited us fine as there is so much to see and enjoy around Chiang Rai.

A very pretty group of buildings make up the property in the shadow of 5 enormous blossom trees. The a**osphere is very nice as are the employees who made me feel very welcome. They serve breakfast and lunch till 4 and I had a very nice, Thai Sunday lunch of 3 excellent courses. Enjoyed my visit, thanks to you all-Lance

Die Zimmer sind recht groß und sauber.Der kleine Pool ist zum kurzen abkühlen völlig ausreichend.Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit.Das Frühstück mega lecker.Es ist eine Mischung aus Buffet und A la carte! Das Moped konnten wir problemlos abstellen und waren damit schnell im Zentrum

Sehr geschmackvolles, kleines Hotel mit ansprechender Architektur in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße nicht allzu weit von der Innenstadt. Parkplatz ist vorhanden. Wir, zwei Paare, hatten Zimmer im 1. Stock mit Sitzgelegenheit draußen und Blick auf den Pool gewählt. Die Zimmergröße ist absolut ausreichend, sehr sauber, mit modernem Bad und bequemen Betten. Entspannen kann man in der großen Sala im 1. Stock mit einem Schrank voller Bücher und Bildbänden oder in der Gartenanlage. Der Pool ist nicht groß, aber zum Erfrischen nach einem anstrengenden Sightseeing-Tag perfekt. Ungefragt wurden Wasser und Früchte serviert. Die Pumpe neben dem Pool könnte ein wenig leiser sein. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und die nette Rezeptionistin/Managerin spricht Englisch. Weiterer Pluspunkt, das hervorragende Restaurant mit thailändischer Küche, sodass wir abends nicht mehr mit dem Auto in die Stadt fahren mussten. Entweder draußen unter einem großen, mit Lampions geschmücktem Baum, im Garten oder drinnen mit AC. Zum Frühstück kann man unter verschiedenen Optionen wählen und außerdem gibt es ein kleines Buffet mit Brot, Früchten und kleinen Leckereien. Alles in allem können wir dieses Hotel nur wärmstens für einen Aufenthalt in Chiang Rai empfehlen.

Super hôtel petit déjeuner excellent beau design reçu comme à la maison le personnel est très à l’écoute et nous aide dans toutes les démarches location de scooter, visite, réservation de restaurant, un petit bijou
