The staff were great, really friendly, and service was good. Food was brilliant and enough for sustaining us bikers. The Spa was a lovely place to unwind and the sauna plus steam sauna were too hot for me. The jacuzzi was really full on with plenty of blasting jets. Only gets a max of 3 in there though. The pool was lovely and just right, not too warm or cool. The views are stunning and a walk of 2km to Canfranc Estation (A railway station), and the now made into a new hotel, that it is now, is a nice walk to do. It's a historic building built in Franco's time, and is stunning. The only let down was the room, there had been smoking in my room, I could smell the after effects. The decor was dark and could do with repairs in places. A redecoration would lift it and new windows to replace the bedrooms rotten frames, plus a brighter colour would make it refreshing. The decor of the whole place, I felt I felt was quite depressing.

I am surprised nobody mentioned about the sheer number of flies in the hotel in their reviews. At the parking spot opposite the hotel, I was greeted by at least 2 dozens of them once I stepped outside the car. Then inside the hotel, they were everywhere, alive or dead, near food or not near food. Upon entering the room, we were originally quite okay with it although it did look much older and shabbier than pictures on the hotel site. There was only one fly near the window and we could get rid of it easily. However, we later found out that the hotel was still using the central air system to blow hot air in late June instead of turning it into an air-con. There was a heat radiator in the room but apparently the hotel is still relying on the central system for heating. With one window open (only one has screen window), we still couldn't get the room cooled below 27 Celsius that night and it was difficult to fall asleep. Worse still, I was waked up very early by 5 or 6 flies buzzing around my head. We checked the screen window and it looked perfect. We suspected they could be coming through the ventilation system as we could see light from its opening. I am grateful anyway that the hotel allowed us to leave a day earlier without penalty. I booked 2 nights with 48 hour cancellation prior to arrival, but they reserved the right to fully charge for the entire stay after that period for whatever reason. If it is not because of this gesture, I would really have given the hotel a one star rating only as the stay was really too uncomfortable. Many mentioned food in restaurant was good. However, I only found it quite average, but then I think it is sort of reflected in their price.

Hotel was clean, modern and efficient with a classic contemporary feel about the decor. The rooms were well appointed clean and spacious with good bathrooms. The food was excellent both in quality, quantity and timely service. Plenty of covered parking.

A pleasant stay as I state in the title. However, I would suggest the hotel is looking a little tired and could do with a make-over! That said, the staff are friendly, polite and helpful. English spoken at reception, in the restaurant/bar area it will help to speak Spanish. We had a great dinner at a very fair value, 88 euro 3 people including wine/beer and 3 courses with coffee. Breakfast was was substantial & catered for all tastes. We stayed on the second floor and had x2 rooms. Both en-suite , one a step in the bath the other a walk-in. Rooms are functional and clean. Car parking is free and available under a car port structure, along with on road or an over-spill area t the side of the hotel. (all very safe) To walk into Canfranc is a good 15/20minute stroll going & potentially more coming back! (up hill!!) I would stay here again as it is a handy stop-over whether travelling to France or Spain . For us it was a return journey to Euro-tunnel. (1st stop off)

Una experiencia única, en un entorno idílico. Nos gustó mucho, la atención, la limpieza, la comodidad de sus habitaciones, la atención y la comida deliciosa. Una estancia maravillosa. Un sitio para desconectar y respirar aire puro. Muy recomendable
