NH Villa San Mauro

Siamo stati per ferragosto e ovviamente la confusione era tanta, la situazione è stata gestita discretamente con solo qualche problema sulle sdraio in piscina (ma cmq risolta) colazione top che vale quanto pagato (11.90 euro). Splendida vista dai piani alti di Caltagirone. Consigliato per famiglia e coppie

Our room #432 was not large but had a balcony with an excellent panoramic view across the rolling hills and up to historic Caltagirone centre. The hotel is not within easy, safe walking distance of the town - requiring car use which was a problem when we returned as there was limited customer parking available (max 10 spaces it seemed??) with half of the car park roped off for the occasional tour bus!! The pool was closed between 1pm and 3.30pm - with the sun largely disappearing around 4pm - so only useable in mornings?? Breakfast was mainly cakes and pastries with some fruit but there were very high extra charges if you wanted anything hot - Eu 6 just for a fried egg!! We didn't try evening meals as there was no obvious menu and doors appeared closed?

Pros: mostly clean, comfortable bedding and ok sized room. Showers and bath facilities nice. Breakfast buffet was varied and nice. Relaxing pool to chill and relax. Reception staff were supportive, helpful and checkin checkout was smooth efficient. Cons: poor wi-fi, bar service hit n miss, no local shops outside of a 20min walk towards town, tired worn carpets and stairways impact on overall impression. Air con was good but too loud and noisy for sensitive sleepers.

This hotel might have been pleasant many years ago, but nowadays, it's hardly deserving of even one star. The hotel is surrounded by nothing except the local hospital and incessantly barking dogs below. The carpets are worn and faded, the windows are old iron ones, and the air conditioning is both uncontrollable and noisy. Furthermore, it's located on the outskirts along a road where taking a walk is impossible; you either need a car or must rely on taxis. Upon entering our room, we quickly surveyed the conditions and promptly left. On a positive note, the staff was extremely kind and understanding when we informed them that we couldn't stay the night. They offered us another room, but we declined and departed. Avoid this place at all costs.

The hotel employees are very nice, friendly and polite. The physical structure needs some maintenance, both in the rooms and outside. The Lobby is in very good condition. The rooms are cosy. The restaurant is simple, practical and with a limited menu. As the employees explained to us, it is approximately 2 to 3 kilometers from the center. It's fine for one night. I would give it a score of 3.50.

Spent three nights with my family of four. Room was spacious and comfortable for the kids. All services were very good. Many tasty choices for breakfast. Perfect location to visit the town. Staff was friendly and caring.

It was off season for the hotel and pretty much had the place to ourselves with the exception of an occassional tour bus for the night. Shout out to Anna who was meticulous with ensuring her housekeeping staff took good care of our room. Really enjoyed our breakfast and Dinner each day. Luca made sure we were well fed and that the buffet stayed stocked. There were times where he might have 20 or more guests in the restaurant, but it never seemed to slow him down. Be aware, the pool is drained in the off season and there is no fitness room in the hotel. Regardless, really enjoyed my month long stay at NH Caltagirone!

Very good sleep and efficient staff location slightly far from the downtown breakfast to improve room clean and of good dimension I cannot use service lika swimming pool I don't know the price od the night
