If you want to wake up every morning to breathtaking views from your villa, enjoy the panoramic views from every vantage point in the resort and watch the most beautiful sunsets across Busuanga bay, Pearl Bay Villas is the go to place in Coron. We came as a party of twelve to celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday and we occupied a large villa and a two bedroom cottage. They were beautiful clean and modern yet with a traditional touch. Yes we had to ask for some items we were expecting such as a hairdryer, kettle and mugs. But it was no trouble. The thing to do here is island hopping. Peter and Jen and resort manager Bianca make this a hassle free five star service. The boat hire is affordable and honestly priced. We made six trips whilst there. Coron highlights was spectacular, visiting Kayangan Lake, Pukaway cave and underground river and Twin Lagoons, each as beautiful as they are in the brochures. I also recommend Pass Island and South Cay beaches, which are about 30-40 mins away by boat and Black Island- about 90mins. Chef Mike and his team send you off with a packed lunch and chilled drinks to enjoy on your island excursion. The boat crew deliver your lunch to your table on the beach and clear up afterwards. They show you the best places to snorkel and spot fishes, coral, shipwrecks and turtles and help those less confident in the water. Back at the resort, Chef Mike does not disappoint at breakfast, lunch or dinner. We stayed full board and did not tire of the menu. Catch of the day and the seafood were outstanding. We also tried local Filipino dishes and they were equally delicious. So were the special menus on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. There are not many places to eat nearby and you don't need them. We also observed people from nearby resorts coming here to eat. We really fell in love with the resort team. A big shout out to Aileen, Kane and everyone else who worked in the restaurant and bar. They learnt our names, what we like to drink, patiently took our orders and smiled and laughed with us. Priceless. We had to wait for food at times as a large group. But it gave us time to absorb the views, enjoy pre-dinner drinks and chat to each other and the resort team about our day. If you come in a large group, I recommend you pre-order your meals if you don't want to wait. Peter arranged transport to visit Coron, a ride in a chariot and a visit to a local bar for the beer drinkers in our group and a fishing trip for my brother as additional activities. We also enjoyed kayaking in the bay and visiting the crashed plane wreck from the war. In Peter's words, we arrived as guests and left as friends. I really miss them and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
