Its always fun to read one and two-star reviews. You can't please all the people all the time. This was a nice hotel - a little creaky in places but its an old building so that's to be expected. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open - looking at other reviews that isn't unusual - that was a pity, I rather rather wanted to just have a quiet night in. In the Netherlands, people do tend to be pretty direct - we UK people are so delicate that it can verge on seeming rude. If you are similarly fragile then don't take it to heart. I had a large room. It was great - plenty of space, although the bathroom was a bit cramped. In general it was well maintained. Now I'm sure that when I checked in they probably told me where breakfast was server, but I didn't pay attention because I've never found it difficult to find a breakfast room before. I tend to find there are clues. However this was a different story. The restaurant was deserted. Every other room I tried - nothing. Can I hear any noises of coffee cups and plates? No. I discounted the steep stairs leading down to the deep dark basement - surely a staff area. Well - turns out not. Turns out that breakfast is down in the dungeon. My suggestion would be a sign at the top of the stairs. Breakfast - they had a particular pop song playing, just ever so slightly too loud, which wouldn't be too much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that it was on loop. I heard the same song about 4 times. Please change the record - literally. Otherwise breakfast was fine.

I don’t like writing bad reviews, I much prefer recommending places but sadly no. Far too expensive for the experience but apart from the price, I wouldn’t stay here again No restaurant, I knew about this prior to booking but I was told there’s a Greek restaurant within walking distance. 1.6 km each way in dark unlit roads? I passed. Asked about a taxi company, handed a card, guy was lovely but not available, asked about another, told to google it! Asked about food deliveries, told no , nobody delivers here. Lady at reception, quite possibly the owner just didn’t care at all, no interest 4.99€ is expensive for tourist tax, a lot more expensive than other countries Bed was comfortable, only good point I went to bed hungry I can’t recommend here, sorry. Mistake booking it

Avoid Rooms 31 and 32 at the roof peak if you have mobility issues. Narrow winding wooden stairway is dangerous unless you are an Alpine ready climber!

Lovely place to stay. Too bad that the restaurant was closed. Although there are several restaurants in the area, you have to move out again for dinner.

I had a very good stay and the Hotel Kasteel. The hotel is located in a peaceful location but only a few minutes from the main town. The full of character and nice touches such as small items of furniture and art. My room was on the top floor and I had not problem negotiating the small stairs, but it may be worth the hotel checking with future less able guests before allocating an attic room. The room itself was very spacious and clean, with the added benefit of a Nespresso machine. The breakfast was very good.

Visited the hotel in the off-season, and had a lovely time. Staff was friendly and helpful when we asked for advice on places to visit and eat. Location is cozy and peaceful, with some traffic noise outside. Breakfast was good, no chef at the time of visit so dinner was had elsewhere. Only within walking distance from one restaurant, which was luckily great.

Stunning building & façade. Main interior rooms perfect decoration on first impression although scuffs and minor repairs not attended to on close inspection. The carpetting up the stairs &in the rooms was worn, dull & very stained & dirty. Rip it up , replace or bare wood would be better. Sink and bath both rusty and the grout is very dirty. It would take much inves**ent to make this hôtel amazing. Staff bare minimum , very keen to assist but very busy doing other jobs. Wine list not offered fortunately the house wine we asked for was delicious. No water on table. It was a lovely stay that could be improved. Would love to stay again once improvements are made.

A beautiful place, smashing surroundings, clean rooms, fine breakfast but a pity that there is no restaurant or late bar due to shortage of staff. The people who did work were extremely helpful and worked theit buds off to accommodate us, kudos!
