Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and lovely breakfast for a reasonable price. Great location near the train station. Ideal stopping off point for our journey to the Lake District. Looking forward to staying here again next year.

It was ok for one night but very basic . Clean and tidy but old fashioned and tired decor. Mould in bathroom and shower tepid

No hot water in taps. Shower thermostat also broken. As was TV aerial. Used old biscuits left in cup by kettle. Used towel and mould in wardrobe. Loud drunken Karaoke past midnight. Billed as family friendly hotel when I complained manager asked me what I expected from a pub. Carpet in room was sticky. All in all pretty grotty. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere near there.

Although many wouldn't describe the room for two as brilliant, all that is needed is available. Any additional assistance is on hand on request. The price was reasonable. The downstairs bar was friendly and the hotel is well within a few minutes walk of many cafes and eateries.

Sorry but the Sunday lunch was poor. It seemed to supise them that we asked for a Yorkshire pudding? The food was bland and poor quality and we were told, give them a couple of weeks and it will be better, they are trying to get rid of the old stock. You get one chance to make a good impression, sadly you did not. I do empathise as we had a pub back in the day, and I generally don't give bad reviews but. It was not good.

Good "bones" and furnishings as it's quite vintage. But sorely needs updates. Stff were fabulous, new owner is doing his best. Very accommodating, staff kept my lunch in their fridge. Beds were clean and comfortable. Lots of towels albeit thin and somewhat tained. Plenty of courtesy shampoo, etc. Pub in the reception area, can take a beer to your room. Instant coffee, tea, and a few packets of tasty cookies in the room. Overall good for a brief stay of a night or 2 but lacks charm and is somewhat dilapidated nd randomly furnished.

Personally I have never said anything bad about any property i have stayed in but this time i actually have nothing good to say!! very frosty greetings and over charged. Totally filthy, black mould, masive cobwebs dust everywhere, sanitary bin never been emptied and smelt vile. Shower didnt work, very very noisy, offered ***** on way into the building, noise continued till 3am, when leaving the following morning no one about at all and had to jump over sick in the porch and outside the door!! Seemed like a place where some wild drug fuelled events took place!!

It was really good service and very friendly and helpfull staff. We will recommend certainly.
