르 물랑 드 라바이(Moulin de l'Abbaye)

Brilliant location right on the waters edge Had a rooftop terrace with hot tub lots of seating and brilliant views over the river and town Room was nice with good air con but smelt a bit damp No food at dinner time but only a short walk into town Restaurant was also fully booked at night ! Shower was a double headed rain fall and with wall jets very nice Breakfast outside was lovely with the very loud river Parking in a cave was also cool

Very nice room. No elevator, although only one story up. Beautiful terrace, excellent service. Unfortunately, family with noisy children next door. The bed was 180 CM, which we very much appreciated. Writing more to satisfy ridiculous Trip Advisor minimum word requirement.

Very pretentious. They insist they park your car ( retaining the keys) and then you discover the next day they had no idea how to start or drive it ( giveaway manual open on passenger seat). Beautiful setting.Rooms very small. Surprise Michelin start menu was a surprise with some of the courses still frozen inside, explanation given that the fridge is not behaving properly!! no suggestion that a reduction in the hugely overpriced meal should be given. In summary very expensive and not deserving of the pretensions given. I would not return

EXCEPTIONNEL ET C’EST PEU DIRE. Excellent accueil dans un cadre exceptionnel. Chambre très agréable donnant sur la rivière avec superbe salle de bains . Quant au dîner par un chef étoilé Michelin il est exceptionnel et de très grande qualité. Le personnel est très agréable et tout y est de très grande qualité. On a qu’une seule envie …celle d’y revenir !..Établissement de grande classe où on se sent très bien. Une merveille à découvrir….

Wonderful historical place. As part of Relais & Chateaux, Le Moulin de l'Abbaye definitely meets outstanding standards of history (we stayed in a 13th century building) and luxury. We also had dinner at the Michelin star restaurant and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend it.

We were upgraded to a large room in the building opposite reception. It was spacious and interestingly furnished. We had access to the gardens and restaurant in the main Moulin building. Staff were extremely attentive, and spoke good English. They parked our car in a cave, which kept it nicely cool! Right next to the historic Abbaye with its curious caves, it's a short walk to all the restaurants and attractions in beautiful Brantome.

The staff were lovely. Dinner was a real treat, would highly recommend..

A lovely place to stay where the staff are so friendly and helpful. The most glorious setting on the edge of the river. We were given an upgrade which was on the top floor of the house directly opposite the reception area. The stairs are quite narrow to get there, but our bags were swiftly taken there by the porter. The room was large and well appointed. We had a very relaxed breakfast overlooking the river which was served rather than self service. We didn’t eat in there restaurant as it is closed on a Monday and Tuesday but we did eat in one of their Bistros about 300 meters away which was a pleasant experience. All in all a lovely hotel where we had a joyful experience.

A fabulous stay in the Perigord countryside. This is the best room we’ve ever stayed in (terrace room with hot tub overlooking the river). The views were fantastic, the room was very comfortable, the staff is warm and welcoming, and we were right next door to the abbey and fascinating caves. The sound of the river rushing beneath our window lulled us to sleep each night. We canoed on the Dronne and did a wonderful hike from town with a map from the tourism office. We cannot recommend Moulin de l’Abbaye enough! Small downsides are Wi-Fi is not great and hot tub wasn’t hot enough, but still worth it.
