What and exceptional place! The location is breathtaking, room was immaculately clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived; nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel superbly relaxed. Sello definitely went the extra mile to look after us (especially with the birthday cake!). Game drives were wonderful, made even more so by Migella who, as well as being a first rate authority on game, bird life and the bush, was magnificently entertaining and engaging. The food and refreshments were plentiful and of a very high standard. Having visited many game reserves, lodges and safaris, this is right up there with the very best. Well done guys and thank you! We will be back.

This place is exceptional! From the minute we arrived we felt completely relaxed and in heaven. The attention to small details is amazing. The view from the lodge is exquisite, and our room was gorgeous (inside and out). You get the feeling immediately of being away from society and just being surrounded by the bush. The staff is amazing and so friendly. The food was great. And the game drives were a wonderful experience, from the animals, coffee and drink stops in the bush (the snacks on the drive were amazing) and our guide (Tyron) were really informative. Best holiday destination.

This was our first but not last safari. The location, safaris, accommodation and service was excellent. Its location made it an easy drive from Tambo Airport and every effort was made by the staff to make the experience special.

The best experience of my life. Couldn't fault one thing. The rooms were incredible. The staff were amazing and the whole experience of the game drives were magical made so special by an amazing guide JD.

We have just returned from a glorious two day stay at Clifftop Safari Lodge in die Welgevonden Game Reserve. We were blown away by the magnificent unspoilt landscape and abundant wildlife. Checking the ratings and comments by some guests we were hesitant to choose Clifftop, but despite this, the gallery photos and the setting made us take the plunge and boy oh boy, wasn’t it absolutely magic! The wonderful staff at the lodge, Thebugu (hostess), Thapelo & Patrick (waiters), Caroline (Spa) and our knowledgeable guide Jeandré contributed to an amazing experience that will ensure our return to this wonderful piece of heaven. The chalets are spacious and well equipped, set far apart to ensure privacy, peace and quiet. We just loved the dinner settings at night, each night at a different spot and truly romantic. Cuisine was outstanding despite what some reviews had to say. Welgevonden Game Reserve is an amazing place, one of the best reserves we have visited and getting there from Johannesburg is quick and easy as the roads are in good condition and safe. We left super satisfied and will most definitely be back as soon as possible. Thank you Nolan and staff for an enjoyable stay.

We spent 4 nights at Clifftop to kick off our honeymoon and they set the bar seriously high for the rest of our trip! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a warm welcome and a cold drink/refreshing flannel we knew this place knew how to look after you. The location is obviously beautiful, but it's the stylish accommodation/interiors, wonderful staff, relaxing atmosphere and abundance of great food that make Clifftop truly special. Hospitality wise, this is easily the best place we've ever stayed. On top of this, our safari experience exceeded all expectations. It was our first safari so we have nothing to compare it too, but we couldn't believe how much we saw. We weren't just getting a fleeting glimpse of the big 5, we were having super intimate encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes and rhinos on a daily basis. Our guide said we had a great few days so perhaps we were very luck, but we really had an unforgettable experience. The safari experience is further enhanced by warm blankets, fresh coffees and pastries in the morning and beautiful sunsets, tasty snacks and ice cold drinks in the afternoons - all organised by your amazing guide. All in all, we couldn't recommend Clifftop enough!

We were a party of 8 adults staying for 4 nights. On arrival they had no details of the names of the people and a bit of a “scramble” to get organised. Half the group arrived first. 2 people are Vegans and this was a problem. I did speak to one of the senior staff, Hazel, who did try to make a plan and needs to be commended on her efforts to right issues. When she was not on duty their meals were not meals but just bits and pieces. There were 2 definite “teams” of staff, one seeming to be more efficient than the other. How many times do you have to ensure that the meals for the vegans are in fact vegan? There seems to be a lack of involved and proactive management. The GM, Corrie, was noticeable by his lack of regular presence. There is a noticeable lack of attention to the maintenance of the rooms. Holes in walls where door handles hit, outside decking around the private pools that is badly warped and pieces even missing. Room 2’s “fencing” near the seating area was very wobbly and it was a sheer drop below. For a 5🌟 lodge this is not what one expects. Our guide, JD, was excellent and was the saving grace for this trip. He was knowledgeable, engaging and made each drive thoroughly enjoyable. Owners/shareholders need to visit this lodge and take steps to return it to what is was pre-COVID, according to awards won in 2021.

This is an unique experience in the Waterberg mountain range and a comfortable drive if you are coming from Johannesburg. The terrain is very different from other game parks which are more grasslands and bushveld. Still we had great sightings. Rooms are spacious, with big sliding doors and a patio overlooking the river down below in the valley. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was very good. Well worth a visit.

For an expensive 5 star bush lodge we expected a lot more from this lodge. If it wasn't for Tyrone and our game drive experience this would not even get a 3 star review. The food service was often extremely slow and dinner should never take 3 hours. Food quality was very hit or miss and was either delicious or inedible. We ordered 5 medium steaks for lunch on Friday and not one of them came done to medium and Patric completely ignored our complaints about this. The vegetables were often very undercooked and if you are only preparing food for 16 guests in total, this is unacceptable. We also ordered mocha's and instead of letting us know that they had no idea what a mocha was, we simply received the incorrect drink. Our mini bar and water in our room was never replenished. This is definitely far from a 5 star experience and we will not be returning.
