마운트 쿡 레이크사이드 리트리트(Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat)

This is an amazing venue located about 30 minutes from Mt. Cook. The individual villas are spacious, tastefully decorated and afford utmost privacy and luxury, along with beautiful views. And, then there's the food. Out of this world dinners with the option of having them brought to your villa or eating in the lodge. We did it both ways. The staff members are personable, attentive and professional.. Highest recommendation.

This resort is a treasure. Accommodations are wonderful with private hot tub, exercise equipment, trails, tennis courts, and a private observatory to enjoy the southern skies at night. Food was excellent, service (Victoria especially) was tremendous, and you really can’t beat the view.

The location of the villa overlooking the lake is stunning - you see no people or boats and barely a ripple in the water. The villa is spacious, well appointed and homely. They offer you an in room dining option which falls short because the food is delivered warm with no choice. On the two nights we ate in the Lodge the food was superior ; particularly on the night when the chef served a degustation menu which was world class quality. Breakfast is only served in the villa with few choices. There are walking trails for hikers and Twizel and Mount Cook Village are within easy reach.

This retreat is such an idyllic location. Great to get away and recharge. Stunning food that is garden to plate. Stunning views of Mount Cook and Lake Pukaki. Great hosts and a very special weekend getaway. Would highly, highly recommend! ❤️

We went with another couple and had 2 x 2 bedroom villas (they blocked off one of the rooms). We could have shared one villa between us but the retreat was nice enough to offer us separate villas. Nothing was a problem for the staff, We were so well fed, The food is incredible and the chef cooked whatever we wanted, We decided one night we wanted asian fusion so the chef created us a surprise menu. It was devine. You will not starve and they even provided a small tasting of whiskey which my husband loved. he highlight of this place would have to be sitting in the spa watching the sun set and the spacious rooms/villas. Everything was of the highest quality. We loved it so much that we are coming back again to stay. You should definitely take advantage of the international tourists not being able to come here as we would never have known about this place otherwise. It's the perfect location to visit Mt Cook and Twizel.

We have stayed at some pretty nice places over the years, but it is fair to say that we were incredibly impressed by our 2 bedroom villa at the Mt. Cook Lakeside Retreat. Luke, our host, was incredibly gracious. Our arrival was delayed, and he stayed up to greet us and show us around the villa. The fridge was stocked with a late dinner for us. For the rest of the days, breakfast and dinner were delivered to the villa, and were perfectly prepared. The view outside our villa and hot tub were gorgeous, and the walk to the lake view areas of the property was a delight. 5/5 experience in every way.

My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay in some really beautiful places on our travels but nothing quite matches this. We honestly could not fault one aspect of it. From the incredibly lovely apartment, to the majestic view, to the incredible bathroom, to the view through the french doors from the bed, to the outdoor sitting area - enjoying all the lovely drinks and welcome fruit and cake that were on offer - watching their ducks and sheep as the sun set over the mountains. The meals were something else. All delivered to your private apartment and straight onto your (already set) table. The food was first class. Every mouthful amazing. The fridge was full of lovely drink options and there was even complementary gin and whiskey (and mixers) and a bottle of bubbly. My husband and I even used the hot tub which, on a cold night, was an incredible experience. We also went for a lovely long walk through their extensive grounds. They did have a fire a few years ago but there is much to see and you are surrounded by nature. Everyone should have something so lovely to enjoy, even if its for one night. Truly exceptional.

Never again, went there for dinner it was good food but a bit overpriced. The access definetly needs some attention as it could be compared to a forestry track in some places. Showed up 5 mins early to find the front door locked. Place had a bit off an over awkward vibe.

We didn't know a thing about Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat. We were just looking for a place to stay in the area on our way from Christchurch to Queenstown and luckly found that they had a few nights available that met our travel dates. Arrived to find a privately situated lodge with a wonderful bottle of wine and snack on the kitchen table in the homiest of living rooms. The living room overlooked the deck (and Jacuzzi) onto open fields with sheep and dear meandering about. In the backdrop was a beautiful mountain range. The bedroom and bathroom were to die for. Floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom to a private view of mountains and fields. The bedroom was expansive with windows and light galore. The food was gourmet and individually prepared to meet our dietary needs by the property's own chef. We opted to have dinner brought to our lodge. Breakfast was placed in the refrigerator the night before for us to eat at our leisure in the morning. Spectacular farm to table fare with incredible plating and presentation. The staff were warm and gracious and made every effort to inquire about our stay to make sure all our needs were met. We would HIGHLY recommend a stay and will be back if we return to New Zealand. You would be missing something really special if you are in the area and don't drop in for a night or two or three. No hesitation to recommend this to anyone.
