올드 하우스 로지(Old House Lodge)

This was our second stay. We were a little disappointed that we had been moved from the room we booked that we had stayed in previously. We are not sure why that was the case as we booked that room after our first stay. We also found we had to ask for a lot more things this time. There was no tea and only one towel in our room ect. But the staff we helpful and kind to get us set up. They were very understanding when our kid threw up on the bed and helped us get it sorted.

I'm disappointed to say that I won't be booking a room at this place again for our stopovers to Cape Town. Upon arrival around 11PM, my husband and I were greeted by Collins, presumably the after-hours staff, who was friendly and helpful. However, the trouble began when we discovered that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, with dried-up residue evident on the toilet and under the seat, along with a dirty shower and basin. We opted not to shower, use the bathroom, or even sleep under their sheets. My husband used our own towels, and I slept with my own throw. It was a worse experience than sleeping in the car! What a waste of money!

Went here for an overnight stay on our way to Western Cape, and it was such a nice experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed the night we spent there. The guest house was very beautiful and sophisticated and food was just as delicious! Thank you

The stay was lovely, we had great time there service was excellent. The food was delicious and well made. Overall I was a great experience, being at the guest house. Minor issue was the menu was small and not many selections for food.

Good quality clean room with professional staff. We just got the room close to the road traffic and could hear the cars and trucks. Overall, the a**osphere was good. Good value for money. Will definitely visit again.

I just loved this place! We traveled from Pretoria in the middle of summer on this long never-ending road to Cape Town during a heatwave, and decided to stay over in Beaufort West, not expecting much because it is such a small town and so far the scenery has been flat, dry and brown. Boy was I surprised - not only did the aircon in the room save me, but the whole place felt like an oasis in the dessert - green, cool and peaceful. The hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming, the room was beautiful and big and they even serve food - everything you need to feel refreshed and ready for the rest of the trip. . I definitely highly recommend this place.

The property oozes character and is well-maintained. The room and amenities are good and comfortable, parking is safe. Passing traffic may bother very light sleepers though, as the property is located on a fairly busy street.

Warm Karoo-style hospitality. Comfortable, clean air conditioned room, crisp white linen and coffee station with bar fridge. Secure parking within the premises. Beautiful common areas for relaxation with a convenient restaurant serving delicious meals. Very helpful, friendly & professional staff.

A very charming little place and perfect for a good nights rest after a long day on the road… But the service was very poor. 1. The welcoming was not very warm. 2. We were merely given our room keys and pointed in the direction of the rooms. No proper check-in. 3. When we pre-ordered dinner we were told that there are only two portions of the Lamb Shank left and one of us had to choose something else. The food presentation was good though and food was also not bad. 4. We planned on an early departure, asked what time we can have breakfast and they confirmed that 07:00 am would be fine… When we arrived at breakfast, nothing was prepped, no juices, no coffee, no breakfast spread… We weren’t even offered coffee and when we asked for it they said they ran out of filter coffee and we should use the coffee sachets that are provided in our rooms (note that this place was booked to capacity). We asked for health / brown bread and are still waiting (we are almost home) , we had to ask for hot water at least 3 times for our sachet coffee etc. On a positive note, the rooms are beautiful and beds,pillows etc. super comfortable as well and the lady that was in the Kitchen did a good job with the food and was super friendly. We could really feel that there are no personal touches and that the owners were or are absent here. The service was simply non-existent and it really is sad as the place is such a little gem and super charming. -Jordaan Family-
