This was the first of 3 hotels we stayed at over 6 nights. It is an older hotel but has been maintained. Only complaint we were not able to control the a/c unit in the room. They staff does speak English and are friendly and knowledgeable. They have an excellent Breakfast buffest each morning with was included in our rate. The roof top looks like they might be doing some work on. but is accessible , provides a view of Barranquilla *( best to see at night the city lights) . The pool is on the 3rd level with a bar area also ( not sure of the hours for the bar) is a decent size.

This hotel was completely disgusting, full of mould and damp throughout the hotel. The restaurant floor appeared not to have been cleaned for many months as the dirt was really ground in, the nets and curtains were also mouldy and filthy too. We had to change rooms twice due to the fact that my husband was struggling to breath due too the conditions. The gym was completely filthy and the breakfast was the same each day, and they did not have anything Vegan for me either. There was nothing nice about this hotel. The restaurant menu was dreadful, old and uninviting. The staff were slow to respond to any asks. The bath had obvious cracks in it, however they had just been painted over. This hotel needs a lot of money spent on it to firstly address the mould and damp issues. The replies to the reviews from the hotel stated that they were in the process of completing some maintenance work, almost 2 years ago, however this place has not been touched in any aspect for many, many years! AVOID THIS HOTEL IF YOU DON'T WANT TO POTENTIALLY BECOME ILL!! This hotel is down as a 3/4 star, but 1.5 at the very best. I have always been fair around my reviews, so for me to write this, it was absolutely dire 😔

I have throughly enjoyed my stay at the Bqlla Plaza, to the point that I’ve extended my stay twice. I initially booked for two nights and decided to spend the first half of my vacation here. The staff is friendly, professional, and very attentive, the facility is exceptional for anyone from the tourist to the businessperson. As a veteran special events director I was especially appreciative of the level of quality exhibited on a wedding held on the grounds. Top that off with the ambiance of the pool area and the beautiful, full buffet, including eggs cooked to order, and you’ve got the makings of a memory. Can’t recommend them highly enough- special shout outs to Wilbur in the lounge and Kareme at the front desk!

I stayed here March 21-25 was an amazing hotel super friendly staff and amazing bar and restaurant service there free breakfast in the morning is also very good Colombian breakfast one of my new fav places and they have an amazing sky loft area with jacuzzi Can even bring your food up there magical

This was a large group that was planned for more than a year. We had over 45 people planning to stay in the hotel along with a planned party that was up on the 13th floor for 45 people and was an absolute nightmare! Management was quick to take my $$ for the food and set up of of the party. They were SO understaffed and ill prepared it very soon turned into a complete nightmare and disappointment. With more than 45 people at the party music was great and one bartender the staff had no idea, nor did they have the ability to correct it. I had more than three of my friends trying to at least pay their tab, but their equipment was not sufficient to take payment. It also took hours for that to be corrected, but I also went down to talk to Management and i found two 20 year-old girls were explaining to me that they were running the hotel yet they were on the phone trying to find somebody to help them and no ability to correct the situation. was extremely disappointed to find a hotel that was Supposedly of great caliber destroyed and ruined my wife’s 60th birthday along with her family that were born and raised here in Barranquilla. I later found many of the people at the party had the informed me that the bar tender upstairs ran out of alcohol, and was not only shorting drinks, but not putting any alcohol in a lot of them. we later confirm that as we found 1/3 of the party was downstairs in the front bar drinking as nobody had any alcohol and their drinks upstairs. needless to say, I’m extremely disappointed as we own property here in this city, and to bring 45 friends from the states to enjoy the culture atmosphere and ambience. It’s just disgusting to have such an incredible night ruined my managements, inability to prepare and service the party that we paid. I would strongly recommend not to ever come here with a party of any caliber or service that is needed as they were not capable to even correct the problem that’s what really ******. please note this is not what I do. I am just so disappointed as we love this city and it’s a shame to bring so many friends to a place where we were spending good money for them to enjoy just to be kicked in the face by two young girls that had no ability to cure or solve the problem. there are many other fine hotels in this city. If you’re gonna spend any fair amount of money, I would please shop around as I would not come to the Crowne Plaza ever.

The hotel is located a couple of block from a very nice shopping center with plenty of restaurants and shops. The hotel is very nice as you would expect a HGI to be. I would say it is even nicer than the same hotel brand in the US. The price was very reasonable. The hotel staff was very professional and courteous. The breakfast was very good. You can order eggs any style you like. It offers some items from the typical food from the region although that would be the one aspect I would say the hotel could increase its wow factor. I definitely would recommend this hotel and would return when I travel to Barranquilla.

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Hotel chain states that customer service is the most important thing—it is not. This lack of service was made evident at the start with Sergio at the front desk, who was not only sassy, but absolutely useless from a customer service standpoint. When plans changed and we needed to check out earlier, he proceeded to be unhelpful and tell me he could only honor the reservation for its entire duration. After discussing how often I had stayed at the GHL branded hotels and how modifying the reservation had never been an issue in the past, he went behind a closed door and came back offering a “great” solution: modifying my reservation to cut it from 9 days to 3 days for a higher price (and had modified it already without discussing any pricing with me. I kid you not when I say I spent 1 hour checking in trying to find a solution for both parties. Ultimately, Sergio told me the price wasn’t going to change and I would have to take it or leave it. The bed was incredibly springy and hard. Not comfortable. Room was standard. Not luxurious as website makes it out to be. One day for breakfast, I checked on their app which stated that breakfast ended at 10:30 am, and confirmed with an employee in the hallway at 10:05 am that breakfast went until 10:30 am, and then the lady at the breakfast location gave me a sassy attitude telling me that breakfast was over at 10 am and I could grab from what was left, but for my information it was over at 10 am. I tried to call the front desk using the phone in room to no avail over 5 times. When checking out, I called using the phone to have a bellboy come help with the bags, and no answer. I went to find help from the cleaning staff, who stated they had called down for me. No one came. I ended up going downstairs and asking Rafael at the front desk, who stated he would send someone immediately, but did not. I had to ask again five minutes after talking with him about my issues and he finally sent someone. During check out, I expressed the lack of service and the horrible experience to Rafael, who stated he recognized me from previous stays at the other hotel around the corner, GHL Collection. He stated he would try to help, went behind closed door and “spoke to someone” who told him that since Sergio and I had come to an agreement, there was nothing that could be done. When I asked to speak to the manager, he stated he would call him over and I waited over 15-20 minutes to no avail (when he was around the corner at the other hotel, literally across the street). When I asked for the general manager’s name, Rafael would not give it to me, stating he could not make that information public. As if it wasn’t the general manager’s job to address issues? He would only offer me the reservations manager’s name. I cannot express enough my disgust at the lack of service and care from these team members and their inability to help in any way. Staff was friendly but the hotel looked poorly managed. Lobby was very warm, got to our floor and again very warm hallways. The a/c was off. I was able to turn it on later during the evening. As soon as we got to our room there was a moist storage like smell. We had two rooms and both were the same. They did get better after running the a/c and circulating the air for a while. Not something expected when booking a decent hotel. Went to take a shower and there was only one towel (room for 2), called the front desk but the towels never showed up, had to get them myself. One of the rooms had dirty/stained ceilings, dirty/dusty a/c unit, mold on the corner and loose bathroom faucet. The other room was in much better condition. They were getting trying to get us another room but not before we had to leave for the evening. Wen we got back no one checked on us to see if we wanted to change rooms or how we were doing. At that point we had settled and did not feel like complaining any more. Only one elevator working. Not the best for social distancing. Rooms are spacious and very confortable, beds are great. I would not stay again or recommend this hotel.
