The Auld Kirk

Relaxing and many extras are good reasons to stay here. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and has a modern bathroom. The breakfast was included and made to order. The food is fresh and delicious. Don’t miss this gem!!

We rented two rooms last month and had a great stay. The owners are lovely and chatty in the best way. The room was comfy and the complementary short bread cookies made there were the best ever! I could’ve eaten a whole container they were that good. The breakfast was a real treat and one of the best of our stay. The location is great, smoke parking, too.

Best B&B in Ballater The best B&B we have ever stayed in . Helen and Kevin couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived early with the brakes gone on our car. They let us store our luggage while we went to the little garage in the village. Who I must say that although they were very busy said they would repair it ready for picking up the next day. The Auld Kirk itself was absolutely amazing steeped in history , the decor was down to a fine tune it just took your breath away . The room was so clean the housekeeper was also lovely . I arrived cold and let’s just say that’s another story but the Auld Kirk will know what I mean. You had everything you needed. Breakfast was another extremely high standard and nothing like we have had before. Helen is the most amazing cook and you had an afternoon tea setting for breakfast, with homemade pastries , along with fresh fruit which included a beautiful bowl of fresh strawberries and other fruit, plus cereals and a cooked breakfast. I cannot rate the place high enough if ever you are in Ballater you must stay here .

We had a wonderful stay at The Auld Kirk and were only sorry our booking wasn't longer. The owners were very personable and friendly and the old church has been repurposed to the epitome of B&B comfort right in the center of the most charming small village. A unique experience true to the nature of what a bed and breakfast should be.

The owners Helen and Kevin are amazing people and took a lot of time to chat and answer questions. The Auld Kirk was the best part of our Holiday. The rooms are large and well furnished. The bathrooms are completely updated and luxurious. The included breakfast was easily worth 30 pounds per person. We can’t recommend more.

Wow wow wow. We have stayed in 10+ places on our trip and the Auld Kirk was easily the best. Wonderful hospitality from Kevin and Helen, very unique building with tons of charm and character, great food and very modern conveniences (bathroom/shower, coffee etc). If you’re even thinking about it just book this place.
