FIRST VILLA TAPS RUN DRY, NEW VILLA LEAKING GAS STOVE We booked Yucca vila for 4 nights - thought of trying out one of the ‘instagram’ villas of Canggu. Our stay started the day before Nyeti which is a local holiday- so we were told to come early or all staff will leave. Once reaching we were told curtly ‘this is a villa, not a hotel’ - not sure of the context. The staff wasn't much interested in showing us around and kept stressing everyone is leaving. We bought into it and quickly made a trip to the supermarket to buy stuff to cook for the next day. Once back as we tried to settle in we realized there was no water in the taps. FULLY DRY! Luckily the guy picked up the phone he sent a lady who called another guy - was told he is not an employee and doing us a favor by helping us. The guy came and pushed some buttons in the water pump and water was back - he went away quickly. But the water was off again in 5 min. We ran out and caught him as he was getting on his scooter. He had to come back. Finally the staff on the phone accepted the water pump is faulty - they gave us option of another villa Villa Avanti under the same company, was given 5 min to decide. Quite frazzled by now we decide to take the offer. We had to book our own cab to go to the next villa couple of km away. Middle of nowhere and approach road cant fit a car. We have to carry some of our luggage. Still hopeful of a nice holiday as the new villa looks spacious even though we have wasted half a day. Yucca was pretty cramped, hot with a pool the size of a large tub. Here also the staff is in a hurry - ‘you explore later’ and they leave in 5 min. It all starts going downhill very fast as someone from ‘management’ sends us a message that they now have a reservation for the new villa over the weekend and we need to move out after 2 days. They cannot even guarantee the earlier villa will be ready so they will refund last 2 days and kick us out. What about our inconvenience? ‘We are sorry’. Hotel prices are much higher 2 days before the stay ?’out of our hands’. Finally after hours of arguing seems these guys are not the management and there is another management who they need to speak to. They come late in the night saying they can give 10 pct discount. Well we start the next day morning still hoping to make a good family day out of it. My 7y old is excited about cooking as all restaurants are closed. We turn on the stove to make some eggs but surprise surprise no fire !! We try this and that nothing works. We try the oven - that too does not work. Panicking at this stage we try all the people we have spoken to over the last half day. None pick up. As we are trying desperately on whatsapp, one guy replies with a video instructing to turn the regulator knob. We do that and try the gas nothing works. Just by good fortune I try and smell near the cylinder and I can smell gas. Within minutes the entire kitchen and living is smelling of gas - THEY GAVE A VILLA WITH A FAULTY REGULATOR. my
