Adler Hotel

Our room was lovely, as is the hotel generally. It’s an older historic building that is clean and well appointed. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and it is a short walk to most things in town. There is a good restaurant on the premises, and attention to the guest is first-rate. I would definitely stay here again.

It doesn't go any better. I went for a week to Adlerhotel for hiking the Säntis National Park. 5 minutes away from the station, 5 to 10 minutes away from every major place (square, supermarket, brewery). Very friendly and extremely polite desk staff. Swiss quality was indeed honored when it came to cleanliness. The breakfast was really nice too. When coming back again to Appenzell, I do not need to choose or look for any other place.

Old, extremely well kept small hotel (20 rooms) in small town of Appenzell. About a 10-12 minute walk from rail station. Very close to the old part of town with several restaurants and stores. Across street from a beautiful river. Hotel has a free breakfast with cheeses, bread, juice, coffee, tea, meats and eggs. There is a wonderful looking patio to use outside of the breakfast area,(plus the outdoor seating in front) weather permitting. There is also an Italian restaurant in the hotel that serves lunch and dinner at a reasonable price. Food was good. Hotel owner (Matthew) and staff could not have been nicer. Our room was modern, clean, with a very good mattress and a small balcony. Our room had a frig. Don't remember if there was a microwave. Hotel has lots of maps for wherever you choose to go within the Appenzell Canton (district?). Ask for the Appenzell card if they forget to give it to you. Free transportation within the canton, free ride on at least 2 of the cable cars, free admission to the downstairs part of the town aquatic center (pool and hot tub). We were there for 4 nights. This was a good choice for us.

We had the Broger Suite, first floor above the lobby, a HUGE almost apartment. The sitting room had four big windows and views out two sides (it is a corner room) and some of the original wood walls from the 1600s. Big bathroom, shelf space, good shower, hairdryer and soap provided. It was a nice traditional room in an old building. Easy to get to from the train station (5 minutes walk), excellent location, easy walking distance to everything. Lots of plugs, good WiFi, refrigerator, coffee maker, AC. If you stay three days or more you get the Appenzeller card with great values and free trains to and from Appenzell (this savings alone more than paid for one night's accomodation). Super-Friendly hosts, willing to help. Laundry available for extra charge. Great food in their Italian (!) restaurant. Seriously. Good fondue on Thursday nights (or was it Friday?) This is our second or third time here and We will stay again.

We had the briefest of overnight stops here and I wish it had been longer. The hotel is in the middle of historic Appenzell, our room was large, comfortable and well appointed, and breakfast was fantastic with Appenzell butter and yoghurt thrown in. The hotel's EV charger was in use when we arrived very late at night but we were able to access one behind the bank at the top of town, so happy days!!! The standout feature, however, was Mathias the manager, who left us a welcome note and was so warm and welcoming in the morning. He also helped us design our one day in the region, a beautiful alpine walk that suited us very well. This is definitely a good place to stay if you want to enhance your experience in the region.

Without a doubt, this hotel is a gem, perfectly situated in the heart of town, allowing you to leisurely explore the charming surroundings. Mathias, the owner, whose family has been running the place for seven generations, welcomed me with the warmth of a long-lost friend. His valuable advice enhanced my stay, allowing me to make the most of my limited time there. My room, while modestly decorated, was impeccably clean and incredibly comfortable. The quality of the mattress was exceptional, and I loved the fluffy down comforter. The room also boasted a balcony, enhancing the overall experience. I initially chose this hotel because of its free parking facility, a decision I'm truly grateful for. The exceptional customer service, coupled with a delicious dinner at their restaurant, makes me wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
