샤토 드 프레이(Chateau de Pray)

We stayed here from December 19-21, 2023. This is a beautiful hotel, well, really a castle! The grounds are very nice and there is even a Michelin rated restaurant located on the grounds. The rooms are big and well appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly. This location is great as a base while exploring the nearby castles and chateaus, of which there are many. There is parking on the grounds, and also nearby places to dine and drink. One of the more unique locations we have stayed on our journeys.

We stayed in a Renaissance Pavilion room, which had a nice patio and view of the chateau. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bedroom loft is fun for kids. The breakfast options were very good. Dinner is an option, but you need to let them know in advance if you'll be dining there for dinner. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Good communication from booking to the time of your stay. The location was not far from the central Ambroise, which was nice since you don't have to fight to find parking. If you're driving an EV, there's a free charging station. The only disappointment is that we only had time to stay one night. A week here would have been excellent to visit all the nearby chateaus.

This was a great stay. The staff at the Chateau was very welcoming and helpful. Our room had a terrace which overlooked the beautiful courtyard. The breakfast was wonderful and a great start to the day. The hotel offers every amenity possible, and I would highly recommend this Chateau for a truly memorable experience.

It's fun staying in a castle. The entire property was nice. For the price, though, one expects the room to be a little more magical.

This is a very nice property overall. The grounds are sweet, the castle is a sight to see, but the rooms aren't quite grand enough to get 5 stars. Unfortunately we were here on a night the restaurant was closed.

We stayed here for a Loire Valley cruise extension with AMA waterways. The hotel looks just like the pictures and the staff was very friendly. The beds are comfy, the bathroom was huge. Breakfast was more than adequate. We had a group meal the first night and the food was so good that everyone on our tour booked the restaurant for the following night. The restaurant meal moved slowly but it was delicious - we were there 2.5 hours for our 3 course tasting meal - which was really 5 courses because they add in an initial appetizer and an after dessert tray. We didn't use the pool but the pool area looks nice.

We were given an anniversary gift of dinner at the chateau and, as we live a few villages away in the summer, we thought we would wait for a sunny day and eat on the terrace. When our daughter joined us for a few days holidays during the rugby season we though why not use the gift card and enjoy a sunset and try their food. We wondered why their e mails noted that dining on the terrace was at their discretion. When we got there last night we found the terrace closed and we were ushered into a rather seedy, poorly decorated, depressingly dark dining room ...The gift card entitled us only to whatever the chef had left over it seems-chicken and chickpeas. We added overpriced lobster to try and redeem the meal. Need I say more. Ghastly.

Came end August with my wife on a WE roadtrip. to this gorgeous castle overlooking the Loire river with an atmosphere. Superb restaurant (1 star Michelin) within the castle. Breakfast is nice. Very convenient location, close to numerous castle. Very professional and nice staff. I recommend and will come back.
